    Pros

Decent benefits, nice tuition reimbursement package

    Cons

We were all rewarded for pointing out our peers errors. I felt like i was walking on egg shells.

I worked at MassMutual full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Access to experts who can assist you along the way.

    Cons

Commission only, and if you understand the nature of the business, you know that it's very difficult to have a consistent regular income stream, thus long term planning is difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide an initial salary for those who just started and are meeting sales expectations.

    Pros

Amazing company culture and an incredible support for both new and experienced agents. Frequent, quality training really allows driven individuals to excel here.

    Cons

The industry gets a bad rep because it is all commission-based and it is quite difficult to get off of the ground, and this is no different here

    Pros

Cafeteria is ok, benefits are ok.

    Cons

This is the most boring place in the world in the middle of no man's land Springfield. It has a weird culture. Some really like it, some don't. I think it is better than Travelers through as I worked there for 4 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move the office location out of Springfield.

Not what I expected. Nine months, spent a lot of money obtaining licensing, was not reimbursed or paid while at company.

I worked at MassMutual full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent products, and (as stated in the interview) high commissions on sales. Internal website is very informative, although excessive, and might confuse less tech savvy individuals.

    Cons

Poor business structure, new employees (in my view) are taken advantage of, and not given proper training to become successful. New employees are expected to build their own book of business without leads, or contributed advertising dollars from management. My experience, I spent thousands of dollars without earning a penny. Company wants your contacts, will sign them to product, and hopefully you will quit, so that they can keep your residual commissions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop your talent when they come in the door. Time and money spent in the front end will create revenue for you, and a dedicated employee. Build a solid two week training course, instead of one or two hours a week, spread out over the course of months.

    Pros

Autonomy, independence, entrepreneurial, success pays well.

    Cons

Minimal training beyond sales and products. Learning complex implementations is totally on you. No salary makes it challenging initially.

    Pros

Great Commission and financing. Great work atmosphere.

    Cons

Needs a better training or mentor program. They throw you in to the business with no experience and expect huge numbers.

    Pros

When I worked there they started me with a base salary, at my agency they stopped doing it before I left. Viable opportunity for a company with a phenomenal track record.

    Cons

Decent training and poor mid level management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually be a manger for your employees, there is mentoring and training involved in being a manager. If your not capable of it then the GA ought to know that and act accordingly.
