Do not become a "financial adviser" - you're just pushing life insurance

    Pros

It only COSTS YOU (MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET) a couple hundred dollars to become licensed to sell life insurance in North Carolina. Couple thousand if you want to sell annuities. Luckily, you don't have to worry about where you'll be depositing your payroll checks from working at the company, because you won't be receiving any until you sell a certain amount of product and "qualify" to become "part of the team".

    Cons

You have to find your own "customers" which will be people that you sell products to. Once those customers lock into a product, the company receives a stream of cash, from which you receive a percentage, provided that you are in "good standing" meaning that you've sold enough product recently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be such self-centered arrogant jerks that brag about your success selling product to people and the money that you've made by doing so.... especially when you can't bring new "employees" into a meeting with one of your own customers to show your slick talking ways. Of course, you're VERY quick to leech onto any potential sales leads that a new employee may bring... like a blood thirsty shark that hasn't eaten in weeks. By the way, thanks for stealing my commissions on those deals by "accidentally" deleting me off of the paperwork.

    Pros

Lots of autonomy and flexibility. You can do a lot of things here as long as you declare it as an outside business activity. Much better than a Northwestern Mutual, I was there for three years and got sick of there BS about Whole Life

    Cons

No base salary for producers. Most reps will never make over $100k. The industry as a whole is sick and needs change.

    Pros

Big company benefits. They actually had a full time physical therapist available for employees. It is a beautiful monolith building with Italian marble walls. Decent work hours and environment.

    Cons

There is lots of snow during the winter and you might not be able to find your car in their huge parking lot. Typical large company politics, but that is to be expected.

    Pros

Interesting work. Qualified workforce. Facility very nice. Very responsive workforce

    Cons

Punative management. Terminate consultants quickly with no notice. If consultant stay away from there. Processes one area enforces is opposite to what other organizatiobs allow creating failure situations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Great compensation and benefits and flexible schedule.

    Cons

Anything such as marketing materials or trying to do evens is expensive with this company, be ready to join an am spirit group or you wont get much from this job. Also be ready to train your self because the managers here do not tell you what need to do in order to sell certain products. Best advice do all the training listed maybe tedious but least you would get paid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer a base salary to those just starting out maybe the first 90 days. Also make the managers be accountable for the agents. Felt like a free for all I know your supposed to be a business owner here however your still an associate and you need guidance. My manager was often too busy to spend time going over things I needed help with.

I have been working at MassMutual full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Great Training Program
    Solid Company
    Great Values and Ethics
Alot of products and services to offer the clients
    No Cap on earning potential
GA and Assistant GA are Fabulous

    Cons

No very well known here in CA. Very well known on the East Coast; name recognition and more advertising is needed. Would have been better if a new person to the business join a year after they are in the business not NEW....too hard to get traction and the programs don't give you enough time to get your book off the ground.
