I worked at Massachusetts Medical Society full-time

    Pros

If you want great benefits, this is the company to come to. If you want easy going people that work hard, but with less of the rancorous politics then this is a good place. If you want to work for an "older" company both in terms of the corporation itself and the people working there then this is for you. If you want to work for a leading brand in an industry than this place is for you.

    Cons

If you want to work for a company that pays a high salary, then this place is not for you. If you want to be challenged than this company is not for you. If you want to climb the ladder quickly this company is not for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate the strategy better. Provide career tracks that demonstrate an individuals opportunities to grow and climb within the company. You'd be able to keep some people if you provided clearer paths to leadership and increased opportunity.

I have been working at Massachusetts Medical Society full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Generous health benefits, paid time off, and nice location with community garden.

    Cons

Overbearing management, never praised for work well done, overbearing workload making it difficult
to maintain a sensible work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More frequent opportunities to provide input toward managers/style and leadership capabilities.

    Pros

Amazing benefits, tons of flexibility, longevity. An extremely involved and caring executive leadership team.

    Cons

Some folks have been here just a bit too long and are very set in their ways.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Massachusetts Medical Society

    Pros

Positive work environment. Supportive management. Fairly consistent, regular schedule. The Society is an easy place to work. Nice environment and positive vibe.

    Cons

The problem with the Society is that it is a place where careers come to die. If you are an aggressive, career oriented person, this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs a more focused vision and that vision needs to be communicated more clearly and regularly to the staff. Need to get workers excited about coming to work everyday and need to remove employees who are not performing.

I have been working at Massachusetts Medical Society

    Pros

The people are great, very supportive management team, good benefits package, excellent variety of work, provides good work/life balance

    Cons

I have been very happy working at the Massachusetts Medical Society, so I don't have many downsides. If I had to mention one I guess it would be the location. Commute is tough no matter what direction you are coming from.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice would be to continue leading the organization with well defined and executed strategies and clear objectives that are communicated well to employees

I have been working at Massachusetts Medical Society

    Pros

Excellent benefits: health insurance, 401k, mailroom, dry cleaning, backup daycare, workout room, mother's nursing room, very progressive towards flextime and family issues.

    Cons

Very conservative attitudes toward raises and/or financial incentives. Sometimes very insular thinking on new ideas, roles for these ideas, strict hierarchy/caste system. Not many promotional options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corinne Broderick is a good leader. We understand there have been financial straits this past two years; but hopefully as the company moves back into profits, workers may again receive raises and bonuses.
