    Pros

fellow employees are nice, Clients and tips are good once you build request. If you keep your head down you can work and leave with no one interfering

    Cons

don't really feel like the business cares about you. The owners are never around and there is no leadership except when it pertains to money, sales or a right up. Silly policies like you MUST have doctors note even if you call in for on day and you cant afford health insurance. Plays favorites, gossip and politics

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees and clients as people more then just the numbers. Take time to actually come to all the locations you own and help with problems.

    Pros

    - Beautiful work environment
    - Nice location
    - Good co-workers

    Cons

This company has went through about 20 managers and the owners are the reason why. They have very unrealistic standards and demand cutthroat sales tactics that disgust customers. You are basically expected to hold people at gun point to sell them a membership and if they don't buy, you can consider your job over. Customers constantly complain about the over-the-top in- your-face sales, but the owners ignore the customers and threaten to fire employees who don't make the unrealistic sales quota. Salaried employees are forced to work long shifts with no breaks or extra pay while hourly employees are forced to take breaks on short shifts to save on payroll. The owners expect the managers to do work on their days off - if they get a day off. Expect to work 55-60 hours at the store as a salaried employee and an additional 10 or more from home on your "time off". I really loved this company but couldn't take anymore of the owners. They chase so many employees away. The high staff turnover is a very good indication of how this company is ran.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that your goals are unrealistic and turn customers off. Understand that employees deserve to have a work/life balance.

I worked at Massage Luxe part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Co-workers are nice, get discounts on spa services

    Cons

Terrible Owners, toxic work environment, low pay, management encouraged to lie to customers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Franchise should be more rigorous in deciding who should run their locations. The company is ok, just like any other massage franchise, its just the owners of this location weren't the best. They were pushy with sales, didn't get supplies to therapist on time, and were slow or unresponsive to employee and customer concerns. They would encourage us to lie to customers about details of promotions, anything to sale a membership. They didn't offer any benefits either and didn't even have the option of direct deposit! They even wrote negative letters about past employees so they wouldn't be able to collect unemployment! Because of this, the manager would constantly have to hire new therapists and front desk staff, no one could handle the headaches of working for these owners! The other people working there were great, I even still keep in touch with some, but I would never work for those people again and defiantly wouldn't recommend anyone either.

I worked at Massage Luxe full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The only pro to this job are the clients.

    Cons

Abusive treatment by the owner/manager to both employees and customers on a regular basis since opening.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice would be to treat your employees and customers better. Really listen when complaints are made instead of yelling, being condescending, or overly aggressive and rude. Remember that the customer is always right even if you believe they are wrong, and your employees are priceless. They are the bread and butter of your business, and if you treat them well they will be loyal and work hard for you. In this field word of mouth is your biggest form of advertisement, and if you continue to give people bad experiences you will find that business is no longer booming no matter how many Groupon ads you run.

I worked at Massage Luxe part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Each massage had at least 2 warm towels being used how ever.

    Cons

The management was ill prepared almost regularly or they just didn't know what or how to manage the place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give feed back to employees about their performance when something occurs. That way it gives them a chance to improve..

    Pros

busy schedule, great coworker (sometimes) , supplies provided, some schedule flexibility, unrealistic requirements for full time benefits

    Cons

inconsistent policy, no satisfactory uniform, clashes with owner, delayed bonuses, too much turnover with the front desk

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on retaining staff as well as clients. Ensure better customer satisfaction through customer service. The requirements for full time benefits are unrealistic as massage therapists don't work 36 hours.
