I worked at Matomy Media Group

    Pros

The work environment is extremely relaxed which makes it fantastic place to work. Hard workers are noticed though the performance of their campaign. Online marketing is rapidly growing industry and Matomy is making sure they will be a force to recon with down the line via mergers and aqusitions.

    Cons

Possibly too laid back of an environment.

I have been working at Matomy Media Group

    Pros

    decent compensation
    friendly staff
    fun culture
    nice office

    Cons

the whole place is run by one guy, and its not the CEO to my surprise. the NY office is run by one guy that has been there for almost a decade and pretty much uses everyone else in power as a mouth piece to get his way. if you're not in with him no matter how much money you make the company or how good you are, you are out of luck. people that disagree with him are fired., so everyone lives in fear and holding back on what they really want to say and suggest to improve things. CEO needs to stand up for his own option instead of being sawed by others

there is no management because all management is made up of inexperiences people, who have never managed teams before.

chaotic environment, not fast paced- but inefficient.

public company that has the processes and structure of a small startup

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

hire seasoned people to run the teams and show real leadership

in the agency/network world, people are your most important asset- take better care of the hard workers.

    Pros

Thirsty Thursday, when it happened. Used to be a great place for growth and experience.

    Cons

    - lost all of the good, smart people over the last 9-15 months
    - management in place is unintelligent, unaware, detached and lazy
    - old boys club types that get ahead by lots of talk and very little action
    - salary incredibly low for industry

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lose the dead weight, you'll never get ahead with the management currently in place.

I have been working at Matomy Media Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is doing a lot of exciting things following several acquisitions last year and its IPO earlier this year.
Smart management team that has deep experience in digital marketing and technology.
Only place I have worked in which management actively encourages employees to try out different jobs and work in different departments.
Very smart people who are, naturally, competitive. But that competitiveness doesn't get in the way of what has become a close-knit family.
Comes from classic tech/advertising start-up roots and still maintains much of that feel within its offices: free food and beer, relaxed vacation schedules, family friendly atmosphere, etc.

    Cons

Like any fast-growing company in the tech and marketing space, Matomy faces its share of growing pains. Chief among those would be a general lack of infrastructure and organization. Decisions sometimes get made by one executive but aren't properly communicated to other business leaders, causing confusion over who is leading a project or initiative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to invest and build for the future, with a particular focus on investing in employees and areas of growth.
Implement a more formal organization structure so that key decisions get made faster and with more clarity.
Utilize better internal communications in order to get employees on the same page in terms of overall company direction and objectives.

    Pros

Was there when is was MediaWhiz. Was great place and fun. Thirsty Thursdays. Beer, soda, juice in fridge. Great leadership. Before I left, you can feel it going in the wrong direction.

    Cons

There was an extremely high turnover. People will come and go. There was a constant feeling like, you couldn't really move anywhere. When things got bad, they got extremely bad.

I worked at Matomy Media Group

    Pros

The environment is mostly nice, there's fussball that I liked to play and for the folks who into games, there's also PS in the office.

    Cons

    - Zero interesting problems to handle or interesting development in general.
    - Extremely bad execution of scrum. I've seen many executions in my career, and they just don't know how to run one. It is all messed up, from the daily scrum meeting to the retrospective. Sadly, the folks who "manage" the methodologies don't understand how to do it and won't listen to anyone.
    - The company it self isn't considered as a technological one, therefore they don't appreciate their engineering at all.
    - Management is disrespectful. When you do good things and staying off the hours, you won't hear any thanks for that. When you'll have some faults, you'll be having speeches about how much you're a bad worker.
    - Management. Management. Management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe a new leader, that will fire 80% of the people there, and maybe then, the R&D will look good.

I have been working at Matomy Media Group full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Modern building, young work environment and good flexi-hours for moms/dads.

    Cons

Long hours, long road to promotion, low holiday, low pay compared to other hi-tech companies. If you are looking for benefits this is NOT the company for you. High turnover of staff says something about a company and Matomy is known for having this problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CEO is a great guy but its important to not only be a global leader in digital solutions but in valuing your employees as well. This will become a big problem for the company if they don't make some changes.

    Cons

Hard to advance within the company, the company's tech side is not very strong, salaries are on the low side for the industry

Lot of buzz about commissions, none paid...

    Pros

Large company with cool people that and can serve as a preparation for working elsewhere, in the same fields. I think about 80% of the people I worked with, are no longer there. They moved to similar positions in other companies.

    Cons

Real effort is not translated in real commissions, as promised. All efforts to sort the issue with management failed, all the complains about failing to fulfill promises where ignored, with more promises, more "moving the goal post".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are judged by what you do, no what you say will do.
