I have been working at Maverik full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Pay is competitive compared to similar jobs at Walmart, Target, etc. Tons of opportunity to advance. Many positions opened in store management and corporate positions are filled from within. A company that has seen a lot of growth and continues to build new stores. The new model stores are clean and cool. Recognition and acknowledgement is good. Culture is great! Consider them if you work in retail.

    Cons

It's retail and not for everyone. Must be a dependable and hard worker. Benefits are good, but always could be better. Could have better policies in place for transferring store to store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time developing and mentoring employees. Don't wait for an employee to show interest. Always be on the lookout for talent in order to build a strong bench strength so attrition does not have an impact on service, sales, etc. Take the blinders off! Always see the big picture of how your decisions impact the business.

    I worked at Maverik

    Pros

None. Job is terrible. You don't want to work there.

    Cons

Management was the worse of any company that I ever seen. No training for managers. Went through 5 of them in a year and half.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up. Treat your employees better. They are the backbone of the company.

  7. Stupid p.o.s. Company

I have been working at Maverik full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Customer regulars some co wokers

    Cons

    Back stabbing gossip poor management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I recently got terminated because I couldn't make it to work one day because my car broke down on the side of the road.... My last check only had 35 hours in it when it was supposed to be my first and last check combined alone wht just the pay period I know I worked more than 35 hours management was poor and disrespectful to employees

I worked at Maverik full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

At first it was all positive but soon became a very big let down. Upper management does not support lower management staff; constantly on your back for the littlest of factors... sets unrealistic goals for any bonus. Has set too low of wage scale for the amount of work that it's required, consequently results in very high turn over in staff.

    Cons

Changes to this position - was expected to work at least 60 hours per week; regardless of reason, no overtime is authorized for staff. Useless hours are spent gathering data that is already in corp databases. If you are contemplating working for them, talk with the current workers and see how they feel about working there, also about their manager/area manager - you will be glad you did!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They have really lost the reality of what it takes to operate a store effectively; need to reassess processes; hire qualified middle management; set realistic goals or drop the bonus program all together.

I worked at Maverik full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    The people were fairly nice

    Cons

Working 6 days a week 8 hours a day with only one allowed 10 minute break. Working until midnight then going back at 7 am the next morning. Never gave me the days I requested off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure employees have normal breaks and normal shifts. The store I worked for went through employees like crazy for that reason.

I have been working at Maverik full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good management with an understanding of customers. They get that, at a gas station, many customers suck; and they won't push the "customer is always right" when the customer is a crazy drunk screaming at the cheetos.

    Cons

Not much flexibility in schedule, or time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change up the radio ads, the frequency of ads to music irritates even the customers.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
