I worked at Maxim Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This brokerage firm has nice looking offices in a famous iconic skyscraper (Chrysler Building), which impresses most clients and has easy mass transit connections in midtown Manhattan. .

    Cons

There is little if anything to commend this place. The bottom line is a management that has no interest or concern with its retail brokers. They make you feel like a dairy cow which is tolerated so long as it produces sufficient milk. Payout is on the low side and broker turnover is high. The firm"s only interest is to maximize profit for top management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Try not to be greedy.

    I worked at Maxim Group

    Pros

Guy who trained me was pretty good as far as support goes. He taught me the basics of brokerage business and was helpfull in other ways.

    Cons

Its the same anywhere else when it comes to stockbroker trainee: you have to open 50 accounts for the guy that is training you and you have to be on tyhe phone 12 or more hours per day --it sucks if you dont like talking on the phone the whole day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overall they did a good job when i was there in the summer of 2008. Maybe something has changed, but im not aware of it.
