I have been working at Maxim Healthcare Services full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good company to learn some skills. They stay up to date with current healthcare topics and try to keep employees up to date as well.

    Cons

Healthcare Benefits, salary for certain positions below average in surrounding area compared to other healthcare companies with the same job title. Certain departments have no room for growth/advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix healthcare benefits for employees. A lot of employees cannot afford deductible for their family on the salary they have. Research other possible healthcare benefit packages to give employees options they can afford.

I have been working at Maxim Healthcare Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You will receive some of the best training in the industry. Sales and management style is aggressive, preps you for top positions elsewhere.

    Cons

NO commitment to retention. Personnel are expendable, internal or external. You will work more than you are paid to. I was scheduled 8a-6p and was usually in by about 7:30 and gone by about 7p. Not to mention on call weeknights. Turnover is unreal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions shouldn't be dangled like carrots with no intention of follow-through. Prior work counts for nothing at the first sign of disappointment.

    Pros

Excellent learning experience. Prepares you for a future in healthcare. Very nice people to work with.

    Cons

Low pay, terrible benefits, external staff unreliable, management young and inexperienced, recruiters required to be on call after hours, high turn over rate, company changes policies too often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your external staff for their hard work through more frequent pay raises. Hire more experienced managers for branch offices.

I worked at Maxim Healthcare Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are a hard worker and good at your job then you can find roles in the company to advance your career. There are some really smart and talented people in the organization that will try and help you if you reach out. The CEO does a great job trying to convey the mission and vision for the company.

    Cons

Work-life balance is awful for a recruiter. They created a culture where if you leave your desk then you are not being productive.(not all offices are like this, but the majority are) They grew so fast and promoted too many people that weren't ready. They promote a lot of people because they are in the right place at the right time. I believe in the mission and values of the organization, but I don't think all levels of leadership do. Holding people accountable is a real issue here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose a direction and stick with it. Training finally seems to be a topic you realized is needed, hopefully you continue with it.
