Pros
Great products, lots of oppurtunity to grow, great company performance, a promise of cultural change, world class new building (2012)
Cons
Some senior management has very poor people skills, inconsistent to the culture the CEO or other executives are promoting, negative reinforcement consistent in my department
Advice to Senior Management
check that all departments are motivating good people to stay and avoid political agenda in managing people. This drives good people away from Maxim
Pros
Good technical knowledge. Able to get designs to market and see results of your work. Flexible holiday schedules. Ability to move to different design centers around the country if you desire.
Cons
Upper management rules by whim and engenders fear. Panic mode set in for many groups. Limited cooperation between business units. No motivation for stock appreciation. Designers expected to do design, product engineering, production support, customer support, with little support. Remote design sites shut down suddenly for no apparent reason, and goon squads sent in to manage dismissal.
Advice to Senior Management
You are running on a skeleton crew, and many people are ready to burn out. You need to show some loyalty to the employees who have committed to your company.
Pros
Some of the groups are good and aggressive
Cons
Some biased decisions are made in certain groups
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work
Pros
Maxim gives many opportunities to meet various IP blocks
Cons
Some business units seem to be working improperly
Pros
Benefit package is decent with bonus.
Cons
No balance between work and personal life. It's all work work work.
Lack of promotion and recognition for all the work employees put in.
Working from home is frown upon.
The culture here is very disturbing.
Advice to Senior Management
Show more recognition and appreciation to your employees. Know that there's life outside of work.
Promote your employees more often not waiting until they are about to leave the company.
Improve the culture/environment of the workplace.
Pros
technology oriented fast pace enviroment
Cons
a real grind with no support
Advice to Senior Management
delegate authority
Pros
1. Good salary
2. (Possibly) Good work for freshers
Cons
This applies only to my group, don't know about others:
1. Managers have poor leadership skills
2. Heavily dependent on US team for directions - can get frustrating
3. Most of the actual work happens in the US, India only gets miniscule tasks
4. Mostly testing and customer support work in India
5. Uninteresting work atmosphere
Advice to Senior Management
1. Salary is not the only factor that keeps employees motivated. Employees need to grow in their career as well.
2. Don't just promote good engineers to managerial positions. Managers need to have more than just engineering skills to lead a team/project.
3. Improve the company work culture/environment
Pros
Strong balance sheet. Good stock plans
Cons
Incompetent mg. Not pro to employees
Advice to Senior Management
Improve working environment
Pros
Good healthcare & insurance benefit.
Work with talented engineers.
Potential growth and #1 analog/mixed signal company.
Cons
Poor management structure, but a change is on the way, hopefully.
Pros
Pay and bonus are ok. But only if you are hired into Maxim as SMTS from another company. Internal promotions are lower even though internally promoted engineers have more experience and knowledge. It takes a SMTS a year to come up to speed. Some time never coming up to speed.
Cons
Allot of work with unrealistic expectation to complete that work. Not much time to innovate, just time to get the work load complete. After 4-5 projects (5-7 years) that work gets really repetitive.
Advice to Senior Management
Maxim keeps losing employees because of low pay and to large of work load. You need to hire more employees to distribute the workload.
