Pros
Benefits package is reasonable at best.
Cons
Company lacks a vision for the future. Management does not support their staff and actually works against them with draconian decision, and manages based on fear. Way too many stand-alone legacy systems. Most employees are apathetic towards the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Rethink you management style. You will lose great people when times get better. Support your people and streamline your ERP systems.
Pros
Strong financially, very stable. Growing organization with strategic acquisitions creating more opportunities. Good family culture where employees are treated with respect. Good visibility with Sr management who cares about employee concerns. Place where you can really make a difference.
Cons
Workload at times is difficult to keep up with. not a lot of structure which for some people is a con.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to reinforce our culture change. provide more manager training. Continue to sr managment connect with employees to communicate the vision and strategy which is very exciting.
Pros
Benefits, people, type of work,.
Cons
Growth potential, salary, middle management is very weak.
Advice to Senior Management
do your job right. take care of the employees in compensation and recognition in a timely manner before they get frustrated and lose interest.
Pros
There are still some smart people left over from the Jack Gifford days. Maxim used to be one of the top two analog companies, head and shoulders above the rest. Today it is just average. Compensation and benefits are not bad.
Cons
Some senior managers may be certifiable psychopaths. Fear is widespread through the organization. There is a deliberate policy to get rid of old employees from the "good old days", when the CEO actually had some loyalty to his people. The only internal promotions are for butt-kissers; people from outside the company are assumed to be more competent than those inside the company.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't think I can give any advice without defamatory attacks by name, title or association. Except maybe "smarten up before the few good designers you have left leave the company".
Pros
Great products and smart people
Cons
Stressful, hard driving environment. Somewhat confusing management structure.
Advice to Senior Management
keep working on bettering communications of goals
Pros
Attractive compensation
Winning in many markets
Good parking
Cons
Mgmt manages using negative reinforcement.
Advice to Senior Management
Tunc should contemplate why his glassdoor.com rating is so low.
Pros
Great company, bottom line driven approach, talented people, well run machine, great learning experience
Cons
Under paid, old boys club
Advice to Senior Management
Make compensation commensurate to individual's capability, how can you attract top talent if they are not paid accordingly
Pros
Challenging work. There is a lot of work to be done and if you do well, you are expected to do even more work which leads to a lot of challenging work.
Cons
There isn't much career growth. You are expected to work at your current position without much room for trying new things or advancing into any other fields of interest.
Advice to Senior Management
More career advancement options and rewarding good work.
Pros
Always something to work on or calibrate, daily routines and co-workers that bonds to achieve a common goal which makes the environment very pleasant!
Cons
Not to mention any particular group, a couple of people poison the area of operations to the point that they use DRAMA to mask their laziness.
Advice to Senior Management
A piece of advice from a hard-working, multi-fnctional,multi-area, well proven equipment specialist who would do anything for the greater good of the company, remove the sour apples that's beginning to rotten the whole basket before there is no one is at your table at the market!
Pros
Maxim has its share of exceptional engineers and a diverse mix of products. You can work on radio frequency chips or on battery management chips. It uses it own fabs and processes but also uses outside foundries when needed, so there is a lot of flexibility. The work is interesting. Stock options now go only to directors and above, but the compensation (salary, bonus, ESPP, RSUs) and benefits (insurance, 401K match) are still good.
Cons
Management is more technical than inspirational. The CEO's speeches are soporific. Consultants have been hired to schedule projects and compress schedules. There is little to no dead time to learn or explore. Headcount is kept at a minimum to keep costs down. It's not a sweatshop, but there are days when it feels like one.
