    Pros

Good people, good ideas, and I love what I do. The new headquarters is efficient and had plenty of room for growth, and the CEO is a good man.

    Cons

Career paths are not managed at all, and salaries are still lagging in comparison. Promotions are also lagging and good people continue to leave the company for better compensation.

    Advice to Management

Promote more, and do more to keep good performers. Too much attrition going on and we face problems not being able to keep the intended quality.

    Pros

Easy work, not crazy-busy like other Bay Area companies. Headquarters looks nice from the outside.

    Cons

Bad management choices, poor leadership. After leaving Maxim, legal sent me a letter claiming I disclosed confidential information which was completely false and upsetting given the 3+ solid years I devoted to Maxim. Makes me question how honest and open my time was at Maxim.

    Advice to Management

Major changes are needed if you want to retain or attract talent.

    Pros

They pay well especially for younger employees just starting their careers. They have good benefits, as most larger companies do.

    Cons

The company culture is very poor. Work-life balance is not important to management and therefore employees end up working long hours just to get good reviews.

    Advice to Management

Work to improve the culture so that it isn't one of all work, no play. Show that you support employees by listening to feedback and allowing them to go home at the end of the day and not have to log back on.

    Pros

Compressed work week gives you long weekends, people you work with are nice.

    Cons

Long hours with little break time, management view employees as tools rather than people, worked to the bone with low compensation and little time off.

    Pros

Top talent gets recognized and hard work is not an option. Everyone at Maxim works long and hard, but compensation is usually consistent with the performance.

    Cons

Work/home life balance can be hard to balance. Upper management fixed on outsourcing many jobs and functions of the company.

    Advice to Management

When business is good the company should hold cash to prepare for the slower times rather than always be in a crises management mode. Also need a better method of retaining the top talent.

    Cons

long working hours, under staff, no standard to process anything, work is done when some one wants something immediately, poor vacation time provided, force vacation time, lack of resoruce and aim high, large turn over rate within organization. data is inaccurate presented and some people do work for personal gain outsource to overseas

    Advice to Management

stop out sourcing to insure proper functions are done in us

I worked at Maxim Integrated full-time

    Pros

There is little or no help for a fab process engineer that to succeed and earn their paycheck, you have no choice but to learn. Not only your own job but also the job of people upstream and downstream so that you can do your own job properly

    Cons

Same as pros. You have to learn the job of upstream and downstream process steps so that you don't keep getting blamed for their mistakes

    Advice to Management

Reward the engineers as much as you are paying yourself with stock awards and salary increases. While threatening employees may serve to force them to shut up or leave, in the end you will end up with servile and mediocre employees no one wants to hire. You are eventually crippling yourselves in the long run
