    Disappointing, unfulfilling

    Assistant Specialist (Current Employee)
    Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

ProsBenefits are good - mobile, internet allowance; dental; insurance; medical.

ConsToo much red tape, causing slow turnaround time and frustration. Despite efforts to make things simple, certain members of 'management' are unwilling to change. Some bosses run their kingdoms any how they like it and take all the credit for your work. In some teams, employee welfare is poor although efforts are being made to address this at a higher level. I believe in what Morten is trying to do, but not everyone is on board. Some members of senior leadership clearly are not and are merely paying lip service.

They open up chances to shine, you just have to be creative and reinvent to seize that opportunity

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood people, tide of new culture to change customer experience and service, earnest desire to stay focused on fundamentals to make the company great.

ConsBig company trying to be as nimble as it can , ambition to be like an MNC, but still having to shed "local company" mentality. It can succeed if cultural shift is successful. Board needs to give top mgmt enough time. Transitory perception of top mgmt will cripple it.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on the resources that will make change happen: the employees, shareholders want contradictory things...nice dividends and long term profits. Don't be afraid to set expectations if the middle to long term plans require just that: time.

Great organization moving towards lean management

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

Pros- Moved away from formal attire to casual wear
    - Good benefits on telephony, broadband, medical, parking allowance and etc.
    - Good room to grow your career depending on the department you're in

Cons- Frequent re-org which disrupts employees morale and KPI
    - Senior management constantly applies pressure on their downliners to ensure they remain at helm at the expense of work, life and balance
    - Lack of external training for self developmen

Advice to Senior Management- Stop spending on applying cosmetics to the office building and work towards rewarding the staff for efforts put.
    - Stop adding management layers after an initial good work of removing them.

    Myopic management

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe only pros is that Maxis seems to still command a good branding in Malaysia (perhaps not for long), and is seen to be an innovative, fast-moving, high-growth company who hire the best talents.

ConsThe culture. With the new Maxis Way aka Morten's Way, it will take a long time to take hold unless everyone from the top starts speaking the same language. Easily important is to stress the anti-cultural patterns such don't be an a**, don't be pushy, and don't be inhuman. Examples; there are way too may rotten apples within the org whose only means of getting what they want is to literally bully, intimidate, scold, bang table with fists, bad maneuver, nasty emails/calls. Anti-patterns can remind people to act more in a civil manner, it could be as simple as saying "don't be an a**" to remind them on the positive culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhile the SLT is fixated on fixing the business and market share, presumably to ensure that the company appears good in the books in order to be sold off, think of the bad legacy you are leaving behind. A company that looks like a watermelon, green on the outside, but bloody red in the inside. Management is so myopic, every action to fix an issue by copying your competitor puts Maxis at least 4 steps behind. Why? when you try to fix something by copying your competitor, competitor is at least 2 steps ahead of you. when maxis finished fixing the issue, the competitor would be another 2 steps ahead. so that makes 4 steps behind at the moment you are trying to fix an issue. Think of leap-frogging your competitor. Think ahead of great revenue streams that competitors are already taking hold. don't just be fixated on prepaid, postpaid issues and trying to beat the competitor in games they already started playing long ago.

    Project Manager (Former Employee)

ProsGood people, good products (but they need to be more consistent), great industry

ConsToo much red tape, culture of fear due to large and seemingly untouchable Internal Audit function, poor Managers protected

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't just listen to those at the top - talk to middle management about what's really going on
