Pros
There are many good people working at McCann Wprldgroup in NY. They made working there a good thing. It was an agressive environment. But too agressive to the people working there.
Cons
Staff was generally not treated with respect by the most senior managment. Senior Management lacked a soul. Expense reporting copuld be improved. The environment is inflexible.
Advice to Senior Management
New CEO, Nick Brien, is making changes. I suggest he hold leaders accountable not just for earnings, but creating a qulaity agency that will flourish in the future. ( In other words, long-term goals.) And for that you need to quality people willing and wanting to go the extra mile.
Pros
Good benefits, excellent amount of vacation days. Long holidays. Work life isn't as bad as some other agencies. Depending on the client, you could be out of the office at 6, though some clients can keep you well past midnight during the upfront.
Cons
Open office environment is awful. No privacy at all. Low pay to start out. Main NY office is in the busiest part of nyc. Hours can be very long, some days can go to 3 am.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not give groups too many accounts to work on. There can be 4-5 accounts per group. Respect the privacy of others.
Pros
Large company, lots of exposure
Cons
competitve, cut throat, needs more fairness
Advice to Senior Management
Be loyal to employees and compensate according to work done
Pros
Smart people, free training and bagel mondays
Cons
They work you to death
They rarely promote - You have to move out to move up
Advice to Senior Management
Actually listen to your workers
Promote from within
