    Pros

Most creative managers were talented and fair, the creative teams were great to work with, and there was always an opportunity to work on cool concepts.

    Cons

The work/life balance was always a challenge due to the late nights and weekend work.

  3. Disorganized but fun

    Pros

They have exciting clients, great facilities, and fun networking events/opportunities. Free beer on Thursdays and free coffee every day. Well known in advertising.

    Cons

Teams are extremely disorganized. Lots of turn over and resentment within teams. Also lots of nepotism. Some people work long hours, others work few. Kind of a mess.

    Advice to Management

Invest in building your middle managers and give them incentives to stay for the long haul. Be more conservative with your junior hires and invest in a few stars.

    Pros

Work with some of the best minds in the industry. Many career opportunities available for advancement in different departments and locations.

    Cons

Long hours to meet multiple deadlines, often working through the night. Demanding clients who were not always managed well by the Account Executive assigned to the projects.

    Advice to Management

Equalize account teams to utilize the talents available in-house and reduce demand on schedules in meeting deadlines. Manage client expectations to reasonable results.

    Pros

The people make it worth being here. So many people to support you. They don't set you up for failure or let you sink. There is an open bar every week. Free coffee and there is food service you can order. In the heart of midtown so easy to get around the area.

    Cons

Long hours leaving little work to life balance. They make up for it with an abundance of vacation days and summer days that you will probably be too busy to take. Lack of raises and high rates of turnover keep employee morale low.

    Pros

Very supportive and mentoring management, fantastic team-based environment where everyone is invested in producing high quality work, progressive organization where innovation and creativity is encouraged, promote and support work-life balance.

    Cons

You get a lot done with few resources. Battling with other accounts for creative resources.

    Advice to Management

There is a disconnect between top-tier management and mid-level individual contributors, so you don't always have an understanding of long-term corporate goals or across agency account performance.

    Pros

Nice place to work. A sense of teamwork across all departments. Growing opportunities.

    Cons

Too traditional internal structure. McCann needs to break the old patterns in doing advertising.

    Pros

Can be a boon to one's resume. It's an opportunity to work with talented people and high profile clients.

    Cons

The fast-paced, high-volume environment is like making burgers at McDonald's; marketing becomes like a fast food product. Individuals do not matter to the upper management.

    Advice to Management

Take some lessons from agencies that focus on their people, and hold quality at a premium.

    Pros

Small agency feel with access to vast global resources, great people, decent hours. decent money (neither great, nor bad). Could not learn more about our business anywhere else. Great name on your resume.

    Cons

As the structure is small, there is little room to advance your career unless you are willing to transfer to a different state or country

    Advice to Management

Keep growing and you will retain your best talent
