    Interned at McCann

Media Planning and Social Media Intern (Former Employee)

ProsEfficient, friendly company. Offered me a job after my 3 month internship was over.

ConsI interned for free and the company had just reduced personnel so it was a little disorganized.

    Sell your soul

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Salt Lake City, UT

ProsFun environment, nice work place, good people on working teams

ConsNever a thank you for working 70+ hrs a week. Have worked 100+ hours in one week and received a $20 gift card and 3 comp days (which I likely won't be able to use). Way too many hours and giving up too much personal life/family for nothing in return.

Advice to Senior ManagementSay thank you once in a while to the specific teams and people. Walk by areas when you're in the office late at night or weekend to say thank you. Or just stop by an area where you know the team(s) are working a ton of hours and just say thank you.

    Creative enviornment

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGood pay and benefits. Work life balance is there. Largest business unit owned by IPG. Great history of creating memorable ad campaigns. Really good people.

ConsVery dependent on large client spend. Changes at the senior management level has created a level of uncertainty for the team.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay the course with current senior management team.

Average Advertising Agency doing average work.

Account Director (Former Employee) Detroit, MI

ProsIf you already possess strong skills you can perform. Level of competition is rather low-easy to stand out.

ConsYou won't learn anything new. People are more concerned about themselves than development of others. Agency places politics over producing good work for clients.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees. Break-down levels of management so senior executives can see/hear what's actually happening.

My six months working for McCann Worldgroup

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWorking with some of the most creative and strategic colleagues worldwide.

ConsAt the time I was employed at McCann Worldgroup, it was in huge transition and not the most positive environment. Subsequently, the company is now stronger and better than ever.

Terrible Management by a Socially-Inept Boss

    Vice President (Former Employee)

ProsLarge network with a ton of work-related resources (media tools, research, etc.).

ConsVery corporate and bureaucratic. Creativity and strategic ideas are squashed at lower levels because they don't conform to some kind of ridiculous "one size fits all" planning process. Advancement is not based on a meritocracy as it should be, but rather based on a personality contest. Upper management is completely clueless as to what the mid-level and lower-level people are doing, and the middle management does a poor job of promoting the work of their subordinates to upper management.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually keep tabs on people in key management positions to make sure that they are the right person for the job, and don't just keep them because you like them or because you're afraid of a lawsuit for letting them go.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
