Pros
• An industry leader in media communications.
• Fast paced with opportunities to shift career positions within the organization.
• Diversity in workforce.
• Equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and quality business services for employees
• Community charitable programs with employee outreach/volunteer opportunities.
Cons
• Decreasing value for senior, experienced, full-time employees. Value shift toward entry level, lower salaried, part-time workers.
• Decreasing flexibility for employees with family demands.
• Increasing stressful demands on employees due to rapid turnover and lack of support due to positions lost through attrition.
Advice to Senior Management
• Stay ahead of the curve. Have working knowledge of latest technology, applications and trends.
• Lead by example to maintain respect from employees.
• Keep in mind the advantages of a "healthy workforce".
Pros
Good opportunity to get a foot in the door. Most of the mid-level managers are quite helpful. Even though The Herald is a total rag, it still carries with it a small bit of respect, and so it looks good on a resume. Also, there are plenty of opportunities there, whether you want to work online, in print, as a designer, writing, taking photos or whatever else.
Cons
Management is very disingenuous. Be careful agreeing to anything without a contract.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit and allow new blood in.
Pros
great co-workers, great AC, flexibility
Cons
pay is low and raises are non existent
Advice to Senior Management
think outside the box and do more than CYA
