I have been working at McClatchy Company (More than 5 years)

    Pros

McClatchy Interactive is full of smart, innovative professionals who are excellent at team building. The culture allows for positive work life balance, and the atmosphere is fast paced yet comfortable.

    Cons

Company wide communication is lacking. Compensation is not competitive with IT shops in the area. Benefits, including 401k match have declined in recent years.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Great people - its like a family, interesting technologies, plenty to learn, easy to ware many hats, ability to think independently and come up with out of the box solutions.

    Cons

Management is useless and tends to throw unnecessary road blocks in front of progress. No guidance on direction from senior management. You can can be the best and be layed off while other under performing employees remain for years.

    Advice to Management

embrace quick implementation of new technologies and trends. Reducing head count is hurting you at this point - try coming up with ways of creating larger profits rather than cutting people.
