Pros

Good opportunity to get a foot in the door. Most of the mid-level managers are quite helpful. Even though The Herald is a total rag, it still carries with it a small bit of respect, and so it looks good on a resume. Also, there are plenty of opportunities there, whether you want to work online, in print, as a designer, writing, taking photos or whatever else.

Cons

Management is very disingenuous. Be careful agreeing to anything without a contract.
