Working at McDermott in the many positions I held taught me how to be versitile and multi task.

Logistics and Trade Compliance Specialist (Current Employee)
    Morgan City, LA

ProsI was able to work flexible hours and learned many different job duties in my 23 years of services.

ConsDecisions are sometimes made without input from experienced and knowledgable employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit hiring and trusting the word of an outsider. Go to the actual workers for their advise and opinions and react on their ideas or comments not someone who hasn't worked for the company longer than 15 years.

    Principal Process Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsRelaxing working environment. Good salary and benefit.

ConsIncompetent engineer, management doesn't know how to use the right people, some people seat in the high position just because they look to be experienced. Happy to get escaped.

Great place to work, great people to work with.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsMiddle management is engaged and very supportive of what is happening in the trenches. The environment is pretty laid back. I really enjoy the atmosphere.

ConsThe benifits have been cut back due to the economy and spinning off Babcok & Wilcox just over a year ago. International travel policies have changed forthe worse. Flying 15 to 24 hours in economy for bussiness travel is unproductive.

    A mis-managed design firm.

    Associate (Former Employee)
    Greenwood Village, Arapahoe, CO

Prosmy coworkers were wonderful, i had lots of exposure to local government agencies, i had lots of exposure to local contractors

Consthey mislead me when hired regarding advancement and salary. they gave me a raise and had to rescind it within a month due to mismanaged funds.

    The skinny on McDermott

    Cost Estimate (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

Prosgood job selections and the chance to work in exciting places. the client list is great and there are exciting opportunities.

Consthe salaries could be better, but benefits are ok. i have worked in better places, but i have also worked in worse places. the use of cubicles is not to everybodys liking, but the we are coping for the moment. I think they may be building a new building soon to help with all of this.
