Downhill Quickly

Engineer (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at McDermott full-time for more than 10 years

ProsMcDermott used to be a great place to work. They treated the employees very good and people wanted to work hard, they took pride in working for this company.

ConsBenefits have been reduced. Bonus's are non existent unless you're upper management. Management doesn't listen to the engineers that do the work, causing much waste. Turnover is getting extremely high. Upper management only cares about themselves.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry listening to the workers more. Also by not offering better benefits your losing the cream of the crop. Which will drive McDermott into the ground eventually.

Zero loyalty, high staff turnover, silo organisation, bogged down in procedure

Manager (Current Employee)
Singapore (Singapore)

I have been working at McDermott full-time for more than a year

ProsUse this company to gain experience.
Some great people to work with but unfortunately they are becoming fewer

ConsExtremely silo oriented organisation with poor cross communication, one gets the feel staff are protecting their own departments and jobs rather than working for the greater good of the company. Heavy internal administration and procedures cause increases in schedules and costs but you are a good boy if you follow the procedure and not what is best for the jopb at hand.

Recent poor project delivery, which seems to continue, various forays into markets they do not understand, boats, engineering and now lets see what happens to subsea.

Absolutely no loyalty and will hire and fire at will. Tis has caused consternation amongst th eworkforce.
