I worked at McDermott as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

McDermott pay well but it's not always about the money. The food was good and the Barges are more than capable but the equipment is old, really old.

    Cons

Office management was poor, Barge management was poor too. The safety culture was a token gesture and all they wanted was production. I would not go back to McDermotts unless there was a full change in leadership and safety culture.

    I worked at McDermott full-time

    Pros

Co-workers, lower management/ non management people level mostly helpful. People there for 25+ years (mostly all laid off now) were a HUGE resource.

    Cons

No work. Barely any at all in Houston office. Lots of people on overhead. Subsea jobs abysmal, vessels are non competitive when compared to others in industry.

They have laid off most of their experienced engineers. Lay off your senior management/HR managment first, not these guys that have been loyal to you 25-30 years. LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES, especially the loyal ones

Current employees should get out before its too late....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For once, think before you make a decision.

    Pros

My manager was awesome. Enjoyed working for him. Work was challenging

    Cons

Brought in new C-level management and changed things. Last I heard, they took away the yearly bonuses and no merit raises for the 1st time were given out.

I have been working at McDermott full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great company experience
nice people, supportive in many ways
the company's procedures, policies are under continuous improvement
    great development of employees

    Cons

salaries are not enough since the life expenses increasing
middle management fear for their positions
more than 4 fifths of the company force come from one country
racial forces work under the codes of ethics like work experience is supported on racial profiles
employees don't have a say on the HR policies
they can kick you out anytime

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

give employees more job safety with the salaries/contracts security/HR policies. ethics enforcement into the work area rather than marketing for ethics. direct the middle management when setting task-wise goals for each employee and commit to development
