    Pros

Lots of resources for training and personal growth.

    Cons

Changing into a more corporate environment with more policies and procedures.

    Advice to Management

It would go a long way if the firm would be less rigid and more flexible in scheduling and hours.

    Pros

You get to meet a variety of people with lots of experience. That you can get a great amount of help and advice.

    Cons

You have to work hard and do well, and you have to love what you do.
Otherwise, it might be really stressful working here.

    Pros

Many of the people, attorneys and staff at the firm are wonderful to work with.

    Cons

COO and Co Chair Peter John Sacripanti are awful management. They have a "club" and if you are not invited to be a member you are the "red headed step child"

    Advice to Management

Please take a step back and look at what you did to a marvelous firm

    Pros

I had an excellent mentor, and local leadership was very supportive when I took leave to care for my first child. Very strong community if you can tap into it.

    Cons

I didn't feel like there was any investment made in me personally by the firm. I was useful, but only in the roles I made for myself; I wasn't given additional training or education (though perhaps it was a bit much to ask, being a junior administrative staffer).

    Advice to Management

Lawyers are the lifeblood of the firm, but retaining talent in non-legal roles needs to be given higher priority.

  8. Work is Good but Inconsistent

    Pros

Benefits are wonderful. People in the office are friendly and nice.

    Cons

Work is very inconsistent with some months really busy and others spotty. Not organized well.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a model where there is consistent updates on cases from team leads. Communicate strategies better.

    Pros

As I recall McDermott offered tuition credit and this policy accounted for some of the advancement attained by co-workers.

    Cons

I think it depends at what level one is employed here.

    Advice to Management

Treat your lower level employees more fairly, they actually can make you look good.

    Pros

    Good benefits and friendly people.

    Cons

Get shuffled around and not knowing the direction of the groups sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Have more compassion about the employees working for you.

    Pros

The attorneys I worked for were true mentors. The firm listens to associates. There is a no jerk policy in place.

    Cons

Common to all big law firms -- long hours, inefficiency is rewarded.
