I have been working at McDonald's Canada part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I work part time at a corperate owned location.

Benefits: 50% off food for the indevidual emplyee. With the platinum card, I could also get a discount off my work shoes from PayLess. Uniforms are provided by the company, so no money has to leave the employee pocket. Apart from that, all the health benefits are only for full time workers.

Opportunites for growth: Lot's of chances for promotion! It felts so rewarding to hear fellow coworker congradulate me during my two promotions. I've seen people who work around me be promoted to a manager position within the span of two years. There's also an anual opportunity for students to win a scholarship from the company.

Training: McDonald's offered me paid training at the minimum wage. When I was promoted to crew trainer, and later team leader, I was paid to attend special training workshops to further develop my career within the company.

Pay: McDonald's money is pretty darn good. I get paid $1+ above the minimum wage.

    Cons

Stress: I see a lot of emplyees, both new and old, crumble under the pressure of needing to serve a crowd of guests in a limited amount of time. If you were looking for a lean-and-relax type of job, this isn't it. It's a fast paced, driven type of work environment. I have recieved many customer complaints over the four year course of my career. In order to stay sane, you must stop feeling.

Favouritism: Some of the managers show obvious favouritism towards certain crew members when it comes to crew development (coaching emplyees for a chance at a promotion). Although there is opportunity for promotion, some crew are handicapped by the situation of things.

I worked at McDonald's Canada part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Nice coworkers
    50% discount off for food
Help you get better job by learning to work as a team and getting work experience

    Cons

    Three hour shifts
Always understaffed and the bosses complain about everything. How do you expect the workers to do everything when they're barely anyone working because head office wants to save money.
Tells you to leave hours before your shift is done if it's not busy
    Minimum hours
Unstable schedule (you go from 10 hours a week working 3 shifts to 26 hours working 5 shifts)
Rude customers that swear and throw drinks at you BUT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT and you get in trouble for telling the customer to leave the store.
