I have been working at McDonald's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

McDonald's stresses a work life balance and has some pretty remarkable benefits offered to full time staff. Lots of areas are available to work in and international opportunities for those willing to relocate or travel a great deal.

    Cons

McDonald's has not fully adopted an alternative work approach. In person presence in an office is still highly valued. Virtual workers are not common and the support infrastructure for off site employees is still evolving.

    Advice to Management

Look for alternative ways to engage employees with alternative work environments. Foster virtual working to increase productivity and retention.

I have been working at McDonald's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

McDonald's is a company full of hard-working, well-meaning people. In the global team you learn about how wildly different and highly complex a simple restaurant concept can become over time and across geography. So many challenges to address. So many ways to make a difference. The populist culture of acceptance and diversity is wonderful. People are open to new ideas, even if they don't know how to act on them. The corporate campus is beautiful and the office pleasant. The salary and benefits are competitive.

    Cons

Smart, ambitious people are only allowed to flourish in positions of power. And even then, they may be sent packing if they disagree with one of the "bold" strategies currently in favor. One of the reviews by a former employee at my level correctly states that smart, talented people are many at the company, but that relationships carry more weight. Worse yet, literal thinking and "copy the competition" strategy has suddenly become the order of the day among newly-hired and recently-promoted senior leaders.

    Advice to Management

Ignore the playbooks of the competition. McDonald's rocks as McDonald's. A little self-love will go a long way. Less IT, digital, and labor battling. More convenient quality food, well-paid folks, and family fun are what the world is counting on us for.

    Pros

The Pros concerning my job is that I get to work with and motivate a team, being a manager keeps me sharp with making decisions and my communication skills, also the joy I receive from bringing satisfaction and happiness to my customers.

    Cons

The Cons to my job are no competitive pay, no benefits and room for growth. My job is very demanding with no rewards from employer to keep staff and management motivated.

    Advice to Management

My advice to Management is to try and keep the management and staff team happy, because happy workers my make happy customers.

    Pros

Much more collaborative than I expected. No egos to be found and management is largely hands-off so there is plenty of autonomy.

    Cons

No Cons Really. The company as a whole is struggling to find an appealing image right now.
