I have been working at McDonald's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great for students, has flexible scheduling (for the most part). It can be fun because of the people you work with -- many of them are students just like you, or people in the same situation as you (working at McDonalds making minimum wage).

    Cons

Little room for advancement if at a franchise location. You make minimum wage. Everything you would expect from working at McDonalds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible with scheduling (though it depends on the location/manager), listen to employees more.

I have been working at McDonald's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of work to do on a daily basis and good manager who looks out for the employees as much as possible.

    Cons

Sometimes big corporations can lose the personal touch, but I haven't found that to be too much of a problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at McDonald's part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The job pays extremely well, is never really stressfull, and all around great teen job. I wouldn't recommend this type of work for an adult because the salary is far too low, but for a high school kid looking to pick up some extra cash I would say this is the place.

    Cons

Customers are extremely rude. People tend to look down on you because you work there. It's rather annoying because, like most of us, you're just there temporarily and instantly people assume you can't count, do basic currency exchange, or even understand them. Plus, old people can be extremely rude. They always demand a fresh cup of coffee. Now, this is beside the fact you just made a fresh batch right in front of them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop selling meth to minors and everything will be hunky dory.

    I worked at McDonald's

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, understanding HR, work-life balance

    Cons

Customers are almost always rude and hard to communicate with

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay consistent, my friends working at the McDonald's on the other side of town had a terrible working experience and management communication. The management at my restaurant was fantastic and great with scheduling.

    I worked at McDonald's

    Pros

    Generally good atmosphere
    Good people
    Benefits for Management
    Travel

    Cons

If you have one bad person above you, the whole system falls apart.
I gained a looooot of weight. Free food for management.
It's pretty much impossible to take a sick day if you are a manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider putting in place better practices to cover shifts. For example, I was involved in a car accident just an hour or two before my shift and my car was inoperable. I called my supervisor to let her know I would be late and she told me "Too bad. Get to work on time."

    I worked at McDonald's

    Pros

I enjoyed the friendships I made with my fellow workers and the respect with which my manager treated me. Everyone on the staff was very kind and I really enjoyed coming to work.

    Cons

As with all entry level jobs, the pay was slightly low, but there were no negatives to speak of in any other areas. The hours are long, but you will learn new skills.
