I have been working at McGladrey LLP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are great and you will learn a lot from each engagement. In the summer you will have some down time to recoup from busy season. If you need a flex schedule they are more than willing to accommodate. The raises are a decent % however, the work load just gets harder.

    Cons

Personal growth can be a challenge if you don't get into the "A Team" your first busy season or if you rub a certain partner the wrong way it can destroy your career at McGladrey. Some people are outgoing and will teach/help you with something even if your not working on their client but most are too overwhelmed with their own work and would rather just finish your work for you.

    Advice to Management

The training received on the job needs to improve. The week long training is helpful but it doesn't cover most issues that are encountered at clients. Often in-charges and managers have no time to assist you and really walk through things so you can really take away from the experience.

I have been working at McGladrey LLP part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

McGladrey has an excellent brand identity and they provide opportunities to network nationally with counterparts in different geographic locations. They offer all of the major services so an employee can really obtain a diverse public accounting experience.

    Cons

It is a big firm and at times an employee may feel like just a number. However, McGladrey makes a decent effort to provide recreational activities for its' employees such as golf outings and holiday parties. Such a relationship between the employee and employer should be expected in such a large organization.

    Advice to Management

Maintain the same forward outlook on the industry. The firm seems well-positioned to continue its' growth. Keep investing in your employees.

I have been working at McGladrey LLP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great People to work with. Good money.

    Cons

Long hours and have to travel often

    Advice to Management

Try to schedule people on clients closer to their homes. Employees would be more willing to work longer hours.
