    Pros

Great work atmosphere. Management cares about employee happiness and growth. Benefits are good. Bonuses can be awesome. Working long hours is frowned on by management. They want you to achieve max productivity but not at the expense of time away from your family.

McKenney's is very customer focus. They would rather do the right thing and take care of clients then make a quick buck.

McKenney's is an industry leader and their facilities, office, and shops are second to none.

    Cons

Flat structure. Opportunity to move up executive ladder is slim.

Without bonus, base salary may be below market.

    Advice to Management

Create leadership opportunities and mentorships for people who want it, not just for certain people you like. I think you will be surprised at who steps up.

    Pros

Conservatively growing company, so they don't over extend themselves; you can have as much responsibility as you competently can manage; this is a great company to cut your teeth on early in your career for 4-6 years.

    Cons

Growth opportunities are very limited; the leadership level is very saturated with "lifers" who won't be leaving the company any time soon; senior leadership is scared to attack new growth opportunities; pay is competitive, but you financial upside is limited and capped; senior leadership has no plan for talent development and acquisition

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your top talent before they leave; do employee retention interviews; elevate your view of Project Managers and reward them according to their work and not the bad estimates you give them.

Strange Place To Work - poor morale is palatable - forced sense of unity. Dreadful location Convenient to MARTA :)

    Pros

Not micro managed - remains strong in some quarters but sinking quickly under current management.
3rd generation privately held company - leadership is not inherited.

    Cons

Loosing good key people due to inconsistent leadership. Extremely high turnover. Accounting group turns over about every 6 months causing issues with payroll and vendor invoices.

    Advice to Management

Drop the sense of superiority and thinking of yourself as immune to market forces. That sound you here is the competition! Customers sense the chaos and stress of your employees.

Some departments were amazing, some were lackluster.

    Pros

The benefits were great, better than I've seen elsewhere and they had great incentives - such as lowered insurance premium if you weren't a smoker. They had fun engagement activities, like bike rides, ice cream socials, etc. Everyone was typically nice and easy to get along with, and even for a large company it had a family feel. The company did offer a great learning environment and there were always so many new people to meet and get to know.

    Cons

The main con is the management, a lot of them weren't the best of leaders and didn't inspire the best out of their employees, rather overburdened them until inevitable burnout. Some departments had the highest turnover rate i have ever seen in a company this size and established.

    Advice to Management

It would be a good idea for the management team to take leadership workshops or seminars. Try to create a less stressful environment for your employees and seek out improved processes to benefit the company as a whole.
