I have been working at McKesson as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Low stress, high-productivity environment. Nice people. Decent culture.

    Cons

Full-fledged employees may have a different experience, but being a contractor is miserable. The miserly wages, the complete lack of benefits, PTO and other perks makes for a seriously raw deal. They say you can take overtime, but in practice you're strictly disallowed from doing so.

Oh and don't believe their promises to convert you to a permanent position. My predecessor was here for 18 months without an offer. He finally left once he realized this job was going nowhere.

If you absolutely MUST take a contractor position here, keep feelers out the whole time. You never know when you'll be out on your butt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your contractors more and adhere to a more strict time limit on the positions. If you're going to convert, convert. If you aren't, don't. But don't jerk people around like you do. It's disgraceful.

Also, for the love of god don't discuss how cheap and disposable contractors are in front of contractors. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I have been working at McKesson full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you prize stability it is great company to work for. If you play politics you can grow your career here. Solid benefit package and good work/life balance.

    Cons

It could be boring if you prefer fast pace environment. Not very innovative and sometimes it is hard to move things forward and make changes.

I have been working at McKesson full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Benefits and benefits and benefits

    Cons

This company is a micro-managing, cliquish, nepotism company. The managers/directors/vice presidents should all be fired and new management should be hired to help the morale in this company. No growth potential unless you are in the in crowd.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit.

    Pros

The pay is good. Employee benefits from everything such as health insurance to Roth ira to stock purchase are great. Room for growth in the company and just knowing that your job saves lives is an excellent feeling.

    Cons

Sometimes the people that you work with can be a bit on the negative side and tend to act extremely childish at times.

I worked at McKesson as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

I loved the teamwork with fellow co-workers. Strong leadership kept the team focused and also provided what was coming down the path. They also support a work-life balance and provided flexibility for family/personal life.

    Cons

since I was working in a contractor role, I was not able to transition to a full time position as there was not one available. Compensation was almost half of contract pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider moving full time folks who are less productive to make room for contractors who want to work full time and benefit the business unit.
