Pros
Great company. They take good care of the employees. They are nice bonus package and benefits. They offer good perks too.
Cons
The IT organization sucks. The IT folks are really poor in running the prganization. They have a lot of dummy postions who dont do the real work and they let go the people who actually do the work, when they want to do cost savings.
Every other year there is a re-organization in IT. CIO is nice but folks under him are arrogant and tey dont know what they are doing.
Advice to Senior Management
Pl review your IT organizational structure. Dont blindly listen to the W group. See your actual situation and do what is best for the company.
Pros
Good overall work environment, great salesforce
Cons
Lack of support from management
Pros
-Friendly Co-workers
-A lot of experienced co-workers to learn from
-Projects are challenging and interesting.
-Company working on better communication between teams.
Cons
-Overly aggressive time-lines
-General Giant Company problems
Pros
Work life balance; stable company; philanthropist; some talented people
Cons
job with no professional growth; old boy's network; tough to get promoted
Pros
Very flexible schedule, senior management is very good and the company has a strong potential. Budgets are never an issue for any big project if you can justify the ROI.
Cons
Super federated model, All BUs do what they think is right even when it is wrong.
As it is federated duplication of expenses on big projects happen frequently.
Advice to Senior Management
Let's make profit margins expand by decreasing duplicate costs among BUs. I know it is a tough one but will appreciate all steps taken in this respect.
Pros
Benefits are good. If you're comfortable in a 9 to 5 corporate environment you'll be comfortable here. Being a large company, you work with many people... most of them are really good, talented people.
Cons
Big company environment, lots of red tape, no excitement and momentum like you'd find at smaller or more "free thinking" companies. They do "more of the same" and think they're going to get different results. Raises are minimal, so fight for a great salary coming in... unless you're upper management, don't look for bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
Slow down the company SPAM emails -- couldn't the people writing them find a way to contribute to our almost non-existent product marketing? I believe our products are the best, but our marketing (web sites especially) doesn't prove it and customers often go to companies with slicker presentations. think about implementing some monetary incentive programs (doesn't have to be huge money) could infuse the populous with some enthusiasm.
Pros
Stable company that is over 175 years old. Opportunity to progress and advance your career. Strong resources to fund projects and support initiatives. Most areas of the business follow the company's ICARE (Integrity, Customer First, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) principles.
Cons
Must be willing to relocate several times if you want to advance in the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Find a better way to track your internal talent proactively recruit from within the corporation.
Pros
-great knowledge share
-lots of opportunities to work cross functionally
-focus on leadership skills and being a good manager
-promotes school/learning
-strong senior management
-great development programs
Cons
-only so much growth opportunities
-some managers need more skills (soft skills and/or job skills)
Pros
pay (at least in my dept) was above average for the area
Cons
education and experience not enough for a promotion
Advice to Senior Management
promote based on skill set not cronyism
Pros
Benefits are good. If you're comfortable in a 9 to 5 corporate environment with no career advancement, you'll be comfortable here.
Cons
career wise the WORST place to work
no excitement and momentum
