I worked at McKesson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Was lots of changes to keep from getting bored with technology.

    Cons

All the changes lead to constant work toward the same goal over and over. Introduction to scrum went very bad and took a very long time before teams stabilized to get some cadence. Development managers were nothing more than HR managers and relied on the self promotion pre-appraisals in order to try and warrant any advancement. Small market area led to low pay for the area.

    Advice to Management

Recognize talent and reward the talent in order to not let the talent go in order to create better products at a lower overall cost.

    Pros

Really None Management looks at the all mighty dollar. Could careless about employees

    Cons

Long Long hours, Work life balance is not excepted. No air conditioning. Drugs are stored in over 100 degree heat. Insurance is a joke. Very over rated company. Work 14 hour days at least. President made over 149 million really.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people who add the real value to your company.

I worked at McKesson (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Healthcare and Dental Benefits, Large Company HR Support, Strong Bonus Program

    Cons

Company continues to preach strong leadership yet continues to keep individuals in VP roles that are not good leaders, terrible communicators, terrible customer interaction and customer support, unable to grow staff, hated by peers. Some business units do not get the attention and funding needed to manage business through the industry challenges, resulting in large RIF, poor quality of product, poor leadership, etc. Too much focus on the number $$ and not enough focus on quality healthcare product and service.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Hold VP and Senior Executives accountable to mentor and grow staff and business, create obtainable goals and objectives, stop the constant change of reorganization. Choose your leaders based on employee and customer feedback and surveys, teach and grow them to be the mentors and roles models they think they are.

I worked at McKesson full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great culture to be a part of with a passion to help provide a better standard of care for the healthcare providers and the outcomes of their patients.

    Cons

Very large organization that grows through acquisition and sometimes you feel like the work you do isn't appreciated by the company or the management.

    Advice to Management

encourage your managers to listen more and be available to their teams, and not always on a conference call or internal webinar.

    Pros

The position was fine the first 2 years I was there. Good assignments and the word load was fair, even though I worked on 24/7 on-call.

    Cons

My third year there, MMS started merging and buying more companies, which at least doubled my work load as far as IT work. I ended up with very little personal time, and the boss turned very critical on me. No raises to be seen for it either. 10 months of nonsense was enough for me to wise up and leave.

    Advice to Management

Take some of your fat salary and hire more help.

I have been working at McKesson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The CSR position is a decent starting job. McKesson offers good benefits and a great program called Vitality that helps reduce the cost of your health insurance.

    Cons

Depending on the department, career advancement opportunities are few and far between. Communication can also be a challenge due to the size of the organization.

    Pros

Strong company financially Stable company Flexible with working from home A lot of talented people

    Cons

Rewarded for doing a good job by getting more work Seems to reorg every year Senior leadership lacks strategic vision in particular business units

    Advice to Management

Give employees a sense they belong rather than lip service. The communication within business units is choppy at best so this leaves employees wondering about next steps.
