I have been working at McKesson full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Many options to work in various departments (speaking from experience in 10 years I've been in operations, six sigma, contracting sales and marketing). Very laid back culture with a great work like balance.

    Cons

If you stay with company and not looking to move up eventually the pay won't be what you could get in other positions, but there is so much training and opportunity to advance you can keep up with market averages

    Pros

Fair pay based on your locations. Several bonuses for meeting performance standards. Short commute (Work from home). Reimbursement for education.

Time off is easy to apply for but difficult to get approved. Health benefits are somewhat expensive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work out a better plan for time off during the holidays. Other than that everything is pretty good.

    I worked at McKesson

    Pros

    steady paycheck and flexible schedule

    Cons

There's no clear leadership. I had three managers, I had to beg them to fix my payroll three times, they simply forgot to submit it and thanks to my persistence I got paid on time. You never get feedback unless you make a mistake and if you do make one no one tells you how to fix it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

off site management needs to clear out all leadership and replace with college graduates

    I worked at McKesson full-time

    Pros

The company CEO cares about the employee opinion survey and takes seriously the results. The information is related top down and concerns are addressed. Really good place to learn and tighten up on skills. Good environment with your co-workers. Great location in different parts of the US. Opportunity to work on global projects.

    Cons

However, implementing changes that improve the situation is not always followed through. Therefore, the mid-level Managers and lower suffer when there is a re-organization. Whereby you have very top heavy and highly paid Directors and above that do not suffer at all. Not a lot of co-department and co-organization changes. The organization works in silo. There is no conformity of how business is done across McKesson as a whole. Depending on your EVP and org President (each business unit has it own President) you can have a great career or not so great experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO vision is not bad - the Presidents and EVPs should run with that vision. Get more of your lower-level employees to help with the change transformation and assign your contractors to facilitate the change not just run up a large consulting bill.

I worked at McKesson full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Ok money for not hard work. Typical office environment. Most work pretty mindless. Very laid back atmosphere with most co-workers evident of that.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth. Middle management very unprofessional on floor, mostly due to not being qualified for management positions.
