Pros
Tremendous for learning
You work with incredibly capable people
Feedback is regular and direct
You get comfortable with having your thinking challenged
You build a network of relationships with colleagues worldwide
You get to work on really interesting business problems
Cons
It's less personal than it used to be as the firm is so big
It's not great for work-life balance
Pros
It was an amazing four years at McKinsey. You do not appreciate the skills you built there, until you leave to join another company. When your new colleagues appreciate the rigour you bring to the table, that is when you realize how you have developed!
Cons
The most common criticism is work-life balance. On one hand it is not as bad as many other banking jobs, as our weekends are usually sacred. However, over the years, it can be hugely volatile as we respond a bit too directly to our clients' requirements.
Advice to Senior Management
Work-life balance needs to be looked at again thoroughly. Please help the teams and the partners to push back when it gets unbearable.
