    Pros

Very smart people, take on challenging projects, great training and knowledge building, provides experience of working in multiple industries and functions.

    Cons

Challenging travel schedule, difficult to maintain work / life balance, up or out policy forces great project managers to leave the company or move to more of sales role

    Advice to Management

Invest into leadership development initiatives, too many project managers have no people management experience and don't know how to deal with people.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

It is challenging, but in the end I think it will be rewarding based on the name recognition of the company for purposes of MBA admissions.

    Cons

It can be somewhat stressful based on the demands placed on time and the intellectual rigor through which analyst work is examined.

    Advice to Management

Improve the flow of information between junior and senior consultants. Additionally, management should consider increased reliability on analysts for client facing positions.

Lots of opportunities...so long as you are not in the wrong place at the wrong time

    Pros

As a general rule you will: 1) work on Interesting projects; 2) work with really bright, motivated people; and 3) receive amazing benefits (e.g. medical/dental, life insurance, retirement) while you are with McKinsey. You do have an incredible opportunity to move ahead compared to peers in traditional companies. As a result, if you leave after a few years, you can come in at a higher level than if you had been at a company for the same amount of time.

    Cons

Three downside; 1) no matter what people tell you, there are going to be long hours and you will need to work hard to protect your weekends; 2) you can be on the wrong study at the wrong time and end up having a poor review that can do you in on bonus/pay raise percentage; and 3) travel... it is usually Monday through Thursday nearly every week of the year.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work hard to push the work/life balance and find ways to give consultants more opportunities to do less traveling.

    Pros

    1) Great career advancement 2) Mentors really care about your development 3) Extremely smart group of people 4) Perfect job right out of school

    Cons

    1) Very long hours 2) Superstars are not appropriately rewarded 3) Incentive structure of staffing sometimes creates non optimal staffing 4) Very heavy internal politics

    Advice to Management

    1) Be more understanding of people's commitments 2) Actually follow through with strength based feedback orientation. Idea is great, execution is very poor

I have been working at McKinsey & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great experience, processes and approach to problem solving is exemplary. Very smart people, professional...not a-holes to each other.

    Cons

Not clear to me yet that the work is necessarily any better than specialized consultancies. What's different is that it's managed well, delivered to senior management and hence potentially more impactful. Unstructured to a fault...chaotic way of getting things done...even people who have worked here for years have a hard time explaining which group does what. Work life balance is poor, but that is accepted as the way it is.

I worked at McKinsey & Company as an intern (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, great co-workers, great pay and as long as your working well, they give good raises.

    Cons

There are really no cons that I could think of from working there. I was always treated like family

    Advice to Management

Thank all employees, not only consultants. I worked with graphics department and assistants and they worked really hard. If you could have a couple more employee appreciation outings, that would be great for employees.
