Pros
Great experience, everyone is a pleasure to work with. Challenging at times. Great opportunities for advancement. leader in their industry
Cons
Long hours. Low pay. Jack of all trades, master of now. Have to wear multiple hats. Division between warehouses and sales force
Advice to Senior Management
Understand the customer's needs. Take emotion out of the picture
Pros
The ability to succeed was always proven
Cons
Hours and the amount of time expected to put in. No life outside the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Give them room to breath.
Pros
Knowing that its a company that is always trying to expand to reinforce its foothold. Trying always to find solutions to problems that excist.
Cons
Totally disrespect for employees who have helped build this company to what it is. Would rather get college kids with zero experience to run things.
Advice to Senior Management
Start to respect what you have before all of us are gone. There are other companies out there that would take us in a heart beat
Pros
good pay,company has a great 401k plan
Cons
work hours, not getting 40 hours per week
Pros
Good money and benefits, great opportunity for advancement.
Cons
After 30 years of dedicated service to McLane I was told my position would be eliminated. I was let go with a very small severance package and have endured many financial hardships since. McLane does not appreciate its employees or the faithful and dedicated service they have given.
Advice to Senior Management
Care more about your employees. They have feelings and needs also.
Pros
Company stability
401k returns are great
Good annual bonus
Immediate teammates were great to work with. They provided the support and encouragement that management didn't provide.
Cons
Zero accountability in terms of employee performance
Uneven management: some managers micro-manage, others do relatively nothing
Structure of business units encourages short-sighted decision making in terms of IT infrastructure
Negative employee reviews and complaints are not addressed in a satisfactory matter
Pros
They promote from within and pay OK. Many divisions across the country where you can transfer to and work. Prefer for you to have a college degree for advanced promotion, and accepts degrees from diploma mills and online colleges.
Cons
Long hours, little to no recognition for salaried employees. Employees are treated differently depending on gender and race. Little to no consistency in following company policy. Add technology for the sake of technology, little testing or support. Upper management can sometimes play favorites.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't forget to thank salaried employees, stop assuming that money is enough. Do not allow rampant favoritism. Be consistent when following company policy
Pros
This is mostly a great place to work. All of my bosses have been great. Coworkers are great and it is overall a fun place to work. Fantastic benefits.
Cons
Pay is horrible and raises are even worse. They only give two weeks of vacation until your seven year!
