    Pros

They are family oriented. Fast-past highly demanding inclusive culture.

    Cons

Once you become 40, beware. During a recent "downsizing" 80% of those let go were over the age of 40. Coincidence? I think not.

I worked at McNeil Consumer Healthcare as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

They have family friendly events, such as museum tours. McNeil in Ft.Washington, PA encourages employees to work out on their lunch break. They are very consumer focused. I worked with sales and marketing quite a bit to develop a capacity analysis for disaster scenarios. This was one of my favorite projects as it combined my engineering degree with my MBA and MEM degrees. I was just a summer intern, but loved working for them.

    Cons

The real disadvantage was that I only had 3 months at McNeil as I returned to Northwestern to finish my MBA program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maintain the MBA summer intern program. It was a wonderful experience for me.

Perhaps coordinate housing for interns, as this was my only negative experience.

I have been working at McNeil Consumer Healthcare as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The company puts in a lot of effort to train the employees.
The Company Credo "One Dream One Team", says a lot.
Employees work hand in hand to reach a goal as a team.

    Cons

Very aggressive deadlines, sometimes hard to achieve, as the approvals are dependent on Quality Team (CSV QA) and due to the consent decree there is one more layer added, which makes the approval process slower.
A lot of times aggressive deadlines create a very stressful working environment which is a hindrance to produce good results.

    Cost is driving most decisions

I have been working at McNeil Consumer Healthcare full-time

    Pros

McNeil is fast-paced, engaging, and full of some incredibly smart people. The overall company culture is very family-like and really feels like a small team, especially when it comes to cross-functional interactions. If one is looking to build general management knowledge, this is a great place to do it.

    Cons

McNeil and J&J as a whole tends to get very enticed by bringing in new people from "the outside", even though they have incredible internal talent. This leads to a lot of strong, well-versed people leaving to be promoted elsewhere, while less than stellar people assume middle-management roles. Senior management is also very "in the details" due to the current consent decree environment, which can be stifling, unnerving & frustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide autonomy to your people and trust them to do a good job.

    Negative Outlook
