    Pros

Open ended projects. Wide scope of engineering challenges. Good exposure to many different industries.

    Cons

No chance of move up the ranks at my specific US site. High deductible health plan.

    Advice to Management

There is a lack of structure from senior management. The product line managers are allowed free reign of design process by the general managers. Thus quality varies significantly from each product line. Some managers choose to follow APQP procedures and have products that are more thoroughly tested and well documented, while others may lack meaningful validations or proper documentation of testing.

    Pros

Good entry level position. Good benefits and hours.

    Cons

Poor management. Gossip. Not much room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Hire all new management or train the current management on how to be managers.

    Pros

Global presence - many opportunities to leave your mark High tech - facilitates continuing your informal education Lean decision making - don't have to contend with a lot of red tape

    Cons

Disjointed business units - feels like 5 or 6 completely separate companies Like many companies, plagued by subpar information systems Persistent change management atmosphere wears on the employee base

    Advice to Management

The impersonal corporate culture does not facilitate team building or team work. Consider initiatives to drive a more cohesive environment.

    Pros

Short of staff. Therefore you will always be busy. This means that time will fly by.

    Cons

Keep records of everything (emails, faxes, voice recorder, if possible). If something goes wrong they will be looking for someone to blame. It will be you if you don't have proof.

    Pros

Lots of sites and opportunities to work with collegues around the globe Many technologies and industries to learn about and work on

    Cons

Near-zero talent and human resource management Highly fragmented and desintegrated company Unfair workload for some and too easy for others Complex strutcure lacking simplification and nearly impossible to manage towards a common goal New Product Introduction out of control, not yielding tangible results

    Advice to Management

Too many acquisitions, not enough synergies and simplification, showing lack of results over last 7 years. Employees are treated as objects and talent under/over utilization is #1 cause of waste and lack of sustainable results

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - Regular work hours 8-5, rarely have to work overtime - Fairly light workload - Many products / large catalog

    Cons

    - Other than CEO, management are cronies. Kiss up and kick down culture. - Rude, sometimes belittling managers, who run their own fiefdoms - Disorganized company - Unmotivated employees - Bureaucratic - Poor quality control, lots of angry customers - Horrible communication within company - Most manufacturing done in China, which is a pain to coordinate / communicate with.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to value their employees and technology, rather than cut costs, cut pay and staff, and grow solely by acquisition. Too many disparate sites that are poorly run, lack focus and motivation, and run like private fiefdoms.
