I have been working at MedAssets full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very relaxed work environment, flexible work hours, lots of people work from on Fridays; Nice people to work with; Once you have shown you are capable of doing your job well, it's very stable.

    Cons

Not a very exciting place to work for; Health benefits are surprisingly below average given the company is in this industry.

    Pros

Lots of opportunities, just hard to get them. Flexible work environment.

    Cons

Great if you are "in the club', but if you are an outsider you get overlooked frequently. Very easy to get pigeonholed into a role you never wanted.

I have been working at MedAssets full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Laid back employees, casual dress code

    Cons

This company and CEO is making millions of dollars, but refuses to pay reasonable salaries, give descent raises or provide benefits. The company tells applicants they have good benefits but it's a high deducible HSA that doesn't help at all. You have to all expenses out of pocket so going to the physician costs you $200 or more so you can't visit the doctor often. This isn't right for a company that is in the medical profession.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut your salaries and bonuses, pay your people market rates and provide good benefits. Doing this would reduce the high turnover rate. Work life balance doesn't make up for everything.

    Pros

There is a great deal of focus on finding a work/life balance. Company does a good job of living out it's core values. It is generally a very pleasant environment to work in.

    Cons

Very little effort is put into retaining top talent. Raises are hard to come by, so make sure you negotiate well when you get hired, and plan on leaving in a few years if you'd like to see your financial situation improve more than 1-3% annually.

    I worked at MedAssets

    Pros

Great food in the Cafe. Free bagel Friday and monthly parties in the commons. Pay is pretty good starting out and benefits are okay.

    Cons

    High turnover.
Any signs of their stock prices dipping and they lay off employees.
Cycle of getting fat with employees then laying them off at the beginning of every year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start considering other ways of fixing MedAssets financial problems instead of just laying off employees. These are peoples livelihoods, and not just things you can play with.

I have been working at MedAssets full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Extremely charitable to outside causes.
The core business philosophy is admirable.

    Cons

It is not what you know, but definitely who you know in this company. Employees work for managers who are their best friends. In one office, there are three managers who are all related to one another and allowed to act with impunity. Atmosphere is punitive instead of encouraging and all the employee engagement surveys in the world will not change the fact that MedAssets has far more vice presidents than can be justified and that the front line workers are still the working poor. Horrible, horrible raises (if any), bonuses are gone if you're just a peon, they don't even pay for your internet if you work from home. The CEO makes $2,971,382 per year and the front line employees are struggling to cover their health insurance costs, that continue to go up. The disparity between even the lower class managers and workers is sickening.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting the cliques, start promoting ETHICS. Pay your people what they're worth -- what they do is not something anyone off the street could do. Stop sending the stupid surveys if you're only going to TALK about them. If you want employees you can count on, it is not necessary to give them a VP title (which is pretty diluted already, if you hadn't noticed) -- simply pay them what they're worth, provide them with decent benefits, and stop treating them like children.
