I have been working at MedImmune

    Pros

Flexable working schedule and oppertunity to work from home.
In general most people are extremly intellegent, motivated and professional.

    Cons

Too dependent on outsourcing by ascertaining what will save most on overhead cost. Hard work doesn't pay off, dedicated temps are not rewarded, valuable long term contracts do not have a chance at full-time positions. Often asked to complete tasks above pay grade. Workspace, desk size is a joke (barely enough for a child).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivate, show accountability, build relationships, make decisions that are based on productivity, not politics.
Bad leaders cost businesses billions of dollars each year, having too many of them can bring down a company.

I have been working at MedImmune

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to enhance skill sets, great networking opportunities, opportunities for poster sessions and traveling to conferences

    Cons

With such a big company it is hard to get foot into other departments unless someone gives you a good word, and have to be very careful as a temporary because most times you won't get a permanent position

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please give temporaries a change to excel and thrive in this environment. Please look out more for temporaries because they have the opportunity to do just as well as those who are permanent employees

    I worked at MedImmune

    Pros

Pay was great, supervisors were good. Living in the california sunshine is always a pro.

    Cons

The mountain view location was closing and moving to Baltimore. Also sometimes felt like an oppressively large organization

I have been working at MedImmune full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a long-term investment being made at this facility, which indicates that there will be stability in the future.

Management is genuinely committed to making this a successful operation.

    Cons

Staffing projections aren't particularly accurate, and there is some concerns that some personnel who are supposed to be temp-to-hire are in reality permatemps.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a strategy for dealing with temporary employees, publish it, and stick to it.

I worked at MedImmune as an intern

    Pros

Everyone in the company is very welcoming and friendly, so it is easy to fit in, even as an intern. The company culture was fun, the people were sociable, not what you normally expect from a group of scientists and engineers! As an intern, I had the perfect amount of direction and freedom. I created my own project to work on and it was successful upon the completion of my internship. Safety is a big thing there, and that is something I specifically look for when applying to jobs.

    Cons

I wish there were more entry-level job opportunities, so I could apply to work there full-time.
