    Pros

Teamwork is amazing. Leadership is supportive. Decent salary. Patients are always the priority as is the happiness of staff.

    Cons

Busy, busy, busy. Always full. Never enough beds. Gets frustrating when it is constantly busy.

    Pros

Great learning opportunities. The new tower is beautiful to work in. Usually have the supplies needed to do your job.

    Cons

Short staff (nurses and techs). Lots of newer nurses. Techs are good at hiding even though you are "required" to wear a locator. The documentation system is clunky.

    Advice to Management

Maybe consider less techs and more nurses. Spend the money to make the doc system (eMAR) better.

    Pros

They have an ok health, dental and cision plan

    Cons

Position is no longer managed by MedStar amd is contracted under Compass Group, high turn-around rate, no room for growth, minimal raises, poor management, long hours, vacation hours accrue very slowly, penalized for using sick days

    Pros

Listens to staff, lift equipment, overtime bonus incentives, friendly staff, management visible and available, large number of committees to join to assist in policy changing activities.

    Cons

The lack of staff is the largest issue, there are never enough techs to properly staff the unit and when you are short nurses you increase your patient load which is unsafe.

    Advice to Management

The only piece of advice I have is to properly staff the units with nurses and techs, this is the kne reason I wouldn't recommend the hospital because of lack of staff which is a safety concern.

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere. Great food. Nice coworkers.

    Cons

Lots of rules and regulations. The patients often have unrealistic expectations from workers and their since of entitlement is often reinforced by management.

    Advice to Management

Listen and solicit advice from workers before proposals are made. Similarly, it's insulting to ask or survey workers for their opinions, only to ignore their advice or proceed in an opposite direction.

    Pros

We receive a lot of trraining

    Cons

I think positions under physicians, nurses and therapists do not get paid enough.

    Advice to Management

I think we should managers should be able to give employees raises at their discretion, I think the merit raises are too small,

    Pros

Good benefits, especially if you use MedStar facilities, strong patient care focus in nursing, new facilities with renovations underway in older part of hospital and President who leads by example

    Cons

Salary increases are too low (1.5% ) and some middle management are not up to the task.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to increase annual salary adjustments or risk being a training ground for other hospitals as associates will leave after a couple of years for greener pastures. Hopefully, the new president can fix this. Also, find ways to increase career advancement to keep good people

    Pros

The best thing about working was being to provide exceptional customer service to our nursing staff, who provides patient care.

    Cons

Needing supplies for staff to do their job , and constantly been it's not in the budget.

    Advice to Management

Supervisor's need support from upper management in order to do their job effectively. When dealing in customer service, that support should and must be there, to maintain a positive work flow.
