Pros
Great leadership, supportive environment, challenging
Cons
Some inconsistencies in how people are rated and promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
More awareness of need for a good work life balance
Pros
They were a good company to work for. There was alot of academic resoures available and opportunities to improve your knowledge base. The people were friendly and work environment was positive. It provided a good work/life balance.
Cons
The communication between the various departments needed improvement. There was very little opportunity for advancement at the particular site i was working. Sometimes things were made more complicated than they needed to be and it was not always clear what was expected of you to excel.
Advice to Senior Management
I think it would be more helpful to the employees if communication was improved and the different departments were aware of what was expected of each other. In other words, there should be more cohesion among the different departments.
Pros
Strategic thinker and Innovative Management style
Cons
There is never a break; constanly busy
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
It is a job. You get health insurance. You can contribute to 401k with a match. You get regular breaks.
Cons
You are treated as a number. There is no human compassion in scheduling time off. Big brother is always watching you.
Advice to Senior Management
People are not machines. Please treat the employees with respect and compassion. Try to have some flexibility in work schedules.
Pros
The best part for me was the times where I actually was able to help someone get their meds and some of the conversations I had were really uplifting to speak with older people with experience about life and health.
Cons
You are constantly being attacked verbally and emotionally. Even though you are compensated well, sometimes money isn't enough when your self-esteem and emotions are detieratiing b/c of the constant abuse.
Advice to Senior Management
Supervisors are too hard on CSR's which is the front line of Medco and the hardest job at the company in my opinion. Supervisors are constantly micro-managing and picking out what CSR's are doing wrong and it affects the mood of the CSR therefore making the CSR's upset when talking to customers and its a circle of anger that begins with the Sup.
Pros
good place to work compensated well
Cons
uncertainty about future of the company and jobvs once the merger takes place
Pros
Above average pay
Union
Good Benefits
FMLA and Sick Leave (which end up being necessary)
Cons
Employees must go through a 6 month probationary period with no time off before they can even become a regular employee.
After being hired as a regular employee, must wait for 1 year anniversary to start making decent money.
Will not be hired on if you do not make a set rate of production, even if senior employees are not making that rate of production themselves. I was told in my probationary period that "I will be let go" if I don't process a certain amount of rxs an hour. Intimidating management from the beginning.
All attention is paid to making rate and having low idle time; constant meetings, emails, postings about rate and idle time; given printout showing how much your idle time costs the company, which creates a high stress environment.
Sitting all day, afraid to get up because you will be "idle". Watched manager scold an employee because they got up from their seat.
Losing my eyesight from staring at a computer two feet away from me all day.
Very easy to burn out at this job, many employees take FMLA several times a week or are on sick leave.
Not sure if I'll have a job a few months from now because of the impending merger with Express Scripts
Advice to Senior Management
Look at how many employees are burning through their personal days, using FMLA, and taking sick leave. You would have better retention and happier employees if you would make the work more reasonable.
Pros
Competitive salary
Smart coworkers
Great place to gain experience (if you've worked here for a few years you can handle it anywhere)
Cons
Job instability since large layoff initiative last year and pending acquisition
Stressful at times due to urgent management requests and client needs
Long hours
Advice to Senior Management
There's nothing much to say after Sr Management made the decision to let ESI acquire us. I used to have a lot of respect for Sr Management and the direction they were taking us, but now it feels like the company has been driven into the ground.
Pros
benefits, pay, growth opportunities, pharmacy technology
Cons
STRESS, people need their meds, clients need plan changes, compliance is part of the job and all of this adds to the stress
Advice to Senior Management
People need to stop working in their own silos and realize that we all work for the same customer, and that is our clients. Sometimes we can be too big for our own good
Pros
Fair base compensation and benfits.
Cons
Mangements believes that continuous organizational change for change sake solves problems, when in fact it continues to create the same problems over and over again. Very poorly managed company. Management by email, really?
Advice to Senior Management
Resign, the company needs new blood, not the same recycled misfits.
