    Pros

I might never had broke into the industry if they hadn't given me a chance. Very invested in technology.

    Cons

It's retail and casinos. Clients boarder on the absurd.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

The people you are surrounded by, for the most part, are really great. Mostly good creative.

    Cons

No annual reviews or pay increases. Burn and churn mentality. No training. You are set up to fall short because management over-promises and under delivers.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the quality of people you have - before they leave.

    Pros

the people you meet here are great. created some of my closest friends here.

    Cons

work gets redundant, you burn and churn, no quality to work just quantity, you are not praised if you do a good job but only if you're in trouble is when you get noticed. snarky comments often float around. no point in the anniversary party, no one gets a real promotion... just a title but no bonus or salary bump.

    Advice to Management

you're losing good talent because you're too cheap to keep them and praise them.

    Pros

Sink or swim. You will learn print programs very fast as the turn around time and volume is insane. Good for breaking into the ad industry if you have no experience but get out in a year or two as there's no advancement. People will try to help you out but they are mostly as overworked as you are. There is a lot of gallows humor, commiseration and sympathy from your fellow coworkers.

    Cons

M&M is the invisible sister company of The Star Group. More like a sub company that props up the balance sheet of Star so they can give the illusion of a creative agency. Management pays themselves generously to front to the clients they're in the high end ad game. They're not. You will never get a significant raise. Hours are touted as 9-530 but expect to routinely work past 9pm and then made to feel inadequate at your job because you can't do the work that requires a team of 8 with 2-3 people. Pervasive feeling of dread and anxiety for anyone who is not upper management- the only people not on the chopping block. They don't rehire when people quit except in dire circumstances since they don't want to pay new employees. Promotions happen in bulk once a year and most of the time your work load and responsibility is higher than your title with no compensation or recognition. You get promoted basically only when you do your job and start doing your supervisor's too since they just quit over the hours and low pay. You only get a raise if promoted and it's less than a cost of living adjustment and will only barely cover the rising cost of healthcare that goes up every year and offers less benefit coverage each time. Reviews don't happen because when and if they did people would expect a raise or promotion. Completely client driven. 90% casinos in a dying industry. More casinos in every part of the country with no unique offerings means a turndown in client revenue because of a diluted gambling base that the clients blame on the agency. The work is not creative it's formulaic. Routinely cater to extremely abusive clients. No transparency on the state of the company - bulk layoffs happen without warning and then it's circle the wagons time for upper management who tries to pretend everything is fine. Certain management actually likes the fear culture because they believe that if you fear for your job constantly you're motivated to stay late so you're not next. Digital capabilities are a joke. This is a churn and burn print sweatshop for casino promotions. Instead of fixing what's broken management sinks money into creating new ventures for troubled family members of the owners that drain resources and give no return.

    Advice to Management

Learn to care about people who are killing themselves to try to keep the company afloat. Pay more than you can earn working at a convenience store. Diversify your client base, its been on a downturn for 5 years. Stop patting Star people on the back for doing a fraction of the work M&M people do. Create an actual path for advancement and give yearly reviews.

    Pros

It added a name to my resume, to which when spotted by potential employers offer their condolences.

    Cons

Low pay, long hours, no appreciation, high expectations with nothing in return. without warning I was fired, and i quote.... because a new hire (at $24k a year) was starting on monday and he needs my desk. It is the walmart of ad agencies

    Advice to Management

You're nowhere as near as good as your egos allow you to believe.

    Pros

Good experience, good way to get your foot in the door of the industry.

    Cons

Management has no interest whatsoever in anything going on outside of their office door. If you are a warm body with some design sense they will hire you. Client driven, massive workload with many late nights with no appreciation for any extra effort. Notorious for low pay and getting a raise is practically impossible.

    Advice to Management

    CARE.

A lot of work to keep you busy

    Cons

    - The work isn't very creative most of the time - A friend that worked there compared it to a design sweatshop - Low pay - Friend was denied a raise after working there for over a year - Very very client driven, they have the final say, on type and everything else, ones design sense does not matter

    Pros

Throughput-Lots of work going through. I got experience in many areas very quickly. Good energy from co-workers despite pressures of work.

    Cons

Lots of work going through. Tight deadlines. It sink or swim. Senior management shows little interest in their employees. Low morale.

    Advice to Management

Walk the floor. Say good morning to employees at the start of the day. Simple stuff, really. You're not running a 10,000 employee operation where you can't know everyone.
