Current Employee – been working at MediaSpan full-time

Pros – Great health and vacation benefits*. Nice and friendly people. Primarily Mac based (pro if a fan of Apple obviously). Free lunches every week.

Cons – Used to have 401(k) matching and yearly merit based raises, but those were taken away. *Vacation benefits for new hires are not as good. Tendency to not replace people who leave the company and instead delegate their responsibilities to other people. Primary customer base is in a dying industry sector.

Pros – The workplace is a small shop that offers the chance to get to know your coworkers well. The technology can be interesting to work with. Opportunities exist for entry-level employees that want to grow to more senior positions.

Cons – The company is the result of a merger of various companies servicing media industries, primarily newspapers and radio. A high-level corporate mindset restricts employee perks and benefits and innovation. The result is a company that focuses too much on the bottom-line and protecting itself and not enough on the morale of its internal talent.

Advice to Senior Management – Don't be so beholden to outdated ideas/products/personnel. Identify those with ambition, new ideas, and drive and promote them.

Cons – Lack of engineering and marketing resources prevented the company from moving forward with initatives
