I worked at MediaTek full-time for more than a year

    Pros

the compensation is decent, both financial and time off. The bonus program is based on performance and there are bonuses twice a year.

    Cons

Independent work is impossible. All project decisions are driven from their head quarter in Taiwan. Accomplishing anything requires a significant amount of time spent in late night conference calls and travel to Taiwan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take responsibility for local projects and decouple these projects from headquarters

I have been working at MediaTek

    Pros

Huge bonuses. Focused company. The Taiwanese (HQ) management is excellent. Number one in every market they play in. Aggressive and successful.

    Cons

Commitment to US sites is questionable. Many engineers in HQ are not interested in working with us. No opportunity for career advancement as all new hires are supposed to be industry veterans (~25 years of experience). Local issues with morale, attrition, staleness of ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need a vision that shows value to company.
