    Mediocre -

Senior Member of Technical Staff (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

Prosthe compensation is decent, both financial and time off. The bonus program is based on performance and there are bonuses twice a year.

ConsIndependent work is impossible. All project decisions are driven from their head quarter in Taiwan. Accomplishing anything requires a significant amount of time spent in late night conference calls and travel to Taiwan.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake responsibility for local projects and decouple these projects from headquarters

Aggressive young company may be fantastic at HQ, but much less satisfying in US

Design Engineer (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsHuge bonuses. Focused company. The Taiwanese (HQ) management is excellent. Number one in every market they play in. Aggressive and successful.

ConsCommitment to US sites is questionable. Many engineers in HQ are not interested in working with us. No opportunity for career advancement as all new hires are supposed to be industry veterans (~25 years of experience). Local issues with morale, attrition, staleness of ideas.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed a vision that shows value to company.

In Mediatek, you efforts will be rewarded.

Senior Engineer (Former Employee) Taipei (Taiwan)

ProsCompensation is relatively good in Taiwan.
Employee training is solid, and the management pays attention to your career path plan.

ConsBeing a protocol stack software engineer, the flexibility and variety of your software design is limited, since the behavior of your protocol module has to follow the 3GPP specification.

Advice to Senior ManagementCut-off non-productive engineers

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
