    Pros

Love the business aspect without being so corporate. Many after work events sponsored by the company where you were able to interact with co-workers on a more personal level. Finance department was always willing to help.

    Cons

Some employees were personal friends of upper management and they sometimes tried to use that to get by on required tasks. But once it was mentioned it was handled.

    Advice to Management

Have a group meeting to inform all of duties so no misunderstanding.

    Pros

For a smaller company, I was exposed to many different areas in my profession and there seemed to be a new challenge everyday. Most employees there are team players and makes work that much more enjoyable when everyone shares the same goals.

    Cons

Managers were hesitant to give promotions and while the pay was in line with expectations, there was never a 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Show a bit of appreciation to workers under the radar.

    Pros

Good location in San Francisco. Will help you make lots of industry contacts. Awesome co-workers.

    Cons

Nearly everyone has been driven away or laid off by senior management. Senior management have no clue about products offered by the company and are hell-bent on running as cheap an operation as possible.

    Advice to Management

Work with the editorial team to create quality content and learn how your product works. Stop being so cheap. Stop blaming past employees for current problems with the company.

    Pros

    Good product offering for freelancers.

    Cons

Lots of job opportunities but you can't really take advantage of them as a contractor so it's very little pay.

    Advice to Management

Value teachers and pay them well. Don't churn them.

    Pros

The office is centrally located in the Murray Hill area and the work/life balance is favorable. You will almost never be asked to put in extra hours.

    Cons

High turnover rate and focus on low pay makes it a difficult to keep and develop the entry-level staff they develop. Many of the processes are inefficient and inflexible.

    Advice to Management

If they would like it to be more than a stepping stone in the careers of young media professionals, create opportunities for advancement, development and entrepreneurship.
