I worked at Medical Center of Plano full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good to gain experience, lots of different types of patients, good tuition reimbursement, some learning opportunities

    Cons

Takes FOREVER to get decisions made (over a year to move a linen cart), administration makes lots of promises and fulfills very few, willing to write you up for small mistakes in favor of government initiatives instead of what's right for the individual patient- even tried to write me up for something I documented PRIOR to receiving education to document otherwise...... I've heard they've realky declined SEVERELYsince I've left, especially the 7th floor- favoring young nurses (who lack appropriate experience) for management.....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on employee recognition, appreciation, and retention. Follow through on promises and if you are going to have peer interviews, actually listen to what the peers have to say.....

I worked at Medical Center of Plano full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My favorite thing was the culture of the hospital. Kind of a family culture, and I enjoyed the relationships and interactions I had.

    Cons

Sometimes the senior management didn't have an understanding of my position or my department and the functions there in. Particularly the person over my specific dept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sit down with your department on a regular basis and actually learn the functions of the department instead of asking generic questions.

I have been working at Medical Center of Plano

    Pros

    Small hospital.
    A few long time employees.

    Cons

This hospital works its employees into the ground.
The senior management team has been there forever and it shows.
These people are technology neanderthals - in medicine or in office technology they're about a 1 out of 10 with 1 being the worst.
The "C" level team is basically a good 'ole boy / good 'ole girl's playground.
The nurses are dedicated to providing the best service but are far too overworked and understaffed.
The Human Resource organization needs a good house cleaning. Too many people there who survive on merit. Some of the HR attitudes are downright sadistic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a hard look at the way you treat your employees because your employee and customer satisfaction may appear to have improved, but also you know you game the satisfaction system. Liears can figure and figures can lie. The management team needs to refocus on employees and patients and de-focus on themselves.
