I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital

    Pros

Good benefits if you are a full time employee. They even pay for nursing school if you work there.

    Cons

A lot of the jobs are PRN ( as needed) it's not easy to find a full time position at least back on 2012.

I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time

    Pros

The growth and advancement opportunities are tremendous. As a member of the management team, there is a great deal of support, continuing education, and demonstration of appreciation. Pay, raises and bonuses are good also. Hard work is greatly rewarded. Training and education plans are the norm for MCDH.

    Cons

Highly stressful and very competitive to get on and stay on the management team. Performance and accountability are overlooked and covered up to protect managers. Subordinates are often scapegoats for management failures. Not an easy place to work, but profitable and rewarding when successful. Many times meetings are required after-hours and outside of regular work hours. As a hospital, on-call situations may be required. Flexible schedules are required.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management team is more like a country club of managers who look out for each other and not always about doing what is right. Focus should be on providing subordinates with what they need to do their jobs and backing them, so that competent and satisfied employees will be committed to meeting every need for their patients.

Upper Management only cares about money

I have been working at Medical City Dallas Hospital

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule
    Food is okay

    Cons

    Understaffed
    Intimidation tactics by management
Not given supplies or equipment to do your job safely and efficiently
Fake facade of "caring" by execs and supervisors/managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees. The patients can tell the staff is unhappy and feel sorry for the staff. It shouldn't be the patients feeling sorry for the employees. Stop focusing on profits and more on people.

I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The employees are dedicated and friendly for the most part. the benefits started out good but went down hill rapidly

    Cons

For the most part my time there was good until about 3 years before I left. During this time the work environment became so stressful it affected my health.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Patient care should always come first not the almighty dollar. Remember, without your staff you do not have a hospital. Listen to your employees not just your supervisors.

A company that allowed bedside nurses to achieve work/life balance

I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Work/life balance
    Self-scheduling
Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) with longevity
    Car

    Cons

Bedside nursing has become too stressful, busy and difficult with more and more demands placed on the nurses including extreme complexity of care, so many healthcare and government mandates to follow now and the patient satisfaction demands that are beat into you and over the top. No career ladder direction and support. Didn't feel valued the last few years at the company. No

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No doubt, I had some challenges with work related issues after having been a dedicated, motivated and high performer for the company for 14 years. It's possible that I needed a change and would have enjoyed an opportunity to explore other options within the facility. I would like to think the company would have allowed me to explore new opportunities. But, instead, they just kicked to the curb like my 14 years at Medical City didn't matter.

I have been working at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I had a lot of friends there.

    Cons

Pay is below market for my years of experience; they short-staff, and then ride you to clock out on time- it has become ridiculous. They continue to pile more work on as if the hour is lengthening, but give paltry, if any, raises now.
Upper management is totally out of touch with the reality of the job. Their solution to problems is form a committee, to come up with a new form to fill out, to make sure the last form they made was filled out. Its ridiculous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

make severe changes, or you will have no nurses left

I have been working at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Strong relationships between staff at peer levels

    Cons

Pay is not competitive for market, as a result staffing is insufficient.
Benefits have been slashed dramatically over the past few years
Patient care is secondary to fiscal performance
Minimal opportunities for growth, not a place to develop a career
No loyalty to employees, staff with long careers (25-30+ yrs) fired on the spot.
    STRONG history of nepotism!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to become more engaged with staff.
Spend your money more carefully - stop buying toys for the facility and start investing in your employees.
