    Pros

Good office location in Seattle. Good industry.

    Cons

The Founder and the CEO were constantly at odds. This was likely the case because the board didn't have the guts to fire the founder nor did the CEO they hired to come in and clean up the mess he made. Then the new CEO made a mess of the place as well. During my time there the CEO and the Founder were constantly at odds on strategy and direction. This led the most talented engineers to leave for other opportunities, taking our IP with them.

    Advice to Management

Reduce layers of management. Develop a clear separation of authority between the CEO and Founder. Instead of micro managing and complaining, hit the road and sell something.

    Pros

You are given significant responsibility from day 1. Everyone assumes that you are highly intelligent and if you don't know something you are exptected to learn it very quickly.

    Cons

Majority of the work is self taught with little to no guidance.

    Advice to Management

Create more structure for the onboarding process.

    Pros

Interesting people to work with, interesting projects, great office location (downtown Seattle).

    Cons

Company was in "startup mode" for a while so does not necessary still have a startup spirit

  8. Medio is one of the better, more established mobile tech startups to cut your teeth at, esp. for Big Data Analytics.

    Pros

technology vision, engineering leadership, scalable cloud, huge upside opportunity--every company is going mobile and they need what we are building.

    Cons

engineering leadership in the past years hasnt been as well integrated with the product teams, but i've seen this at other startups in seattle (less so from the bay area). need a stronger sales team focused more on selling cloud-based software.

    Advice to Management

management should focus on deepening partnerships with top providers of other mobile-industry solutions that our stuff complements really well with our analytics and real-time data pipeline. Also, hiring more data/application engineers and data scientists.

    Pros

    - People. There are some fantastic, multidimensional, interesting, smart people at Medio. - Good downtown location. - Good benefits and soft benefits: decent insurance, commute/gym/expense reimbursement, well-stocked kitchen. - Well positioned in the market.

    Cons

    - No vision, leadership, or discipline at the top. - Unclear priorities and frequent refreshes of mission. - Some processes are inefficient. - Senior management can be disorganized. - No path for growth or career advancement that isn't in the job description. - Small, communal workspaces can be noisy and distracting - Popular flexible work from home policy is being curtailed
