I have been working at MegaPath full-time

    Pros

Had to respond to the reviewer who said that nobody liked HR and that there was "nothing positive to say about the Seattle location." First, how can you have nothing nice to say about the Seattle office? It has so many helpful, talented and hard-working people, including HR. We have a newer leadership team in Seattle that has been open to feedback and makes an effort to show their appreciation. We have achievable bonus targets and, in fact, are getting paid on two bonuses this week. The Seattle office is in a great waterfront location - many employees enjoy great views. Our HR staff wears many hats and works very hard to recruit, onboard and support both employees and leadership, plus plan events and look after the office space. Overall, I think hard work is rewarded and I work with a good group.

    Cons

There are some resource challenges and system/process improvements needed. You have to be proactive and persistent at times to keep things moving.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to improve systems and processes.

    Pros

Product Line is decent Good trainers, but recent changes here Office locations are nice Good job for entry level to learn Decent benefits

    Cons

Comp Pay is horrible - reps paid upon installs and install rate is horrific, 40%. Common knowledge Majority of sales reps below 70% plan, quota set is not reasonable. Unhappy reps Main business is now a commodity play; T1, etc...& late to market w/ VoIP Sold off network (MP) and CLEC (Covad) in past 7-8 months, access ordered is via 3rd party Huge employee churn, especially at VP level, most don't last more than 2 years Majority of staff dislikes firm, environment and leadership. Distrust. Quote tool (homegrown) is problematic, clumsy and lacks new technology look, feel, work flow Base pay well below industry norm for sales reps; can't attract or retain top talent Vision changes continually, recent lay offs/downsize leaves them w/ approx. 280 emp. Company still divided from merger(s) - 4+ years ago Getting lean to sell

    Advice to Management

Be honest w emp., they deserve it. Parachute plans for C-levels.

I worked at MegaPath full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Product line. Pockets of employees that really care.

    Cons

High pressure to sell, and horrific install rate (approx. 40%) & Sales staff paid on installs. Salaries for front line sales reps is 25-30% below Bay Area market. Compensation package is actually "fair", however, inability to install sold services result in poor commissions. Majority of Sales department disappointed in the company & leadership but can't express or do express and doesn't matter - job satisfaction incredibly low, job morale low and job security lacking. Many systems issues, specifically home grown quote tool. Huge employee churn across most departments YOY; many are VP Level (i.e., VP's of Inside Sales, Channel Sales, Customer Care, Marketing/Product, Sales Operations, Training). Company has changed overall vision several times in past several years, and sold of 2/3 of assets that were acquired only 4 short years ago. These moves are concerning. These moves were inconsistent w/ the "company message" from beginning of 2012-14. Recent departures, moves & hires (upper mgmt) have been designed to lean out the entire org., and many long term, successful and experiences employees were let go. Big decisions are mad in a vacuum w/ little regard for company culture. Company fails to execute on business plans YOY, hence selling off most assets w/ employee count of approx. 280 vs. 1400+ 6 months ago. The plan? Get rid of debt, people, salary....and sell.

    Advice to Management

Safe bet is that the company will sell of final assets to a firm that lacks Hosted Voice by year end.

I worked at MegaPath full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive benefits, knowledgeable staff, tenured management.

    Cons

Poor stakeholder communication across mid and upper management levels. No centralization of project work or resources which yields duplicative efforts, sub par end results and cross departmental misalignment. Sales systems are not built to meet the changing needs of the business or industry--they are archaic and heavily reliant on the handful of software resources who first coded it. This creates single points of failure and a slow development process. It also inhibits growth and teamwork due to the lack of transparency.

    Advice to Management

Reward tenured employees to boost morale. Create 360 communication forums at the mid and upper management level to prevent duplicative efforts and foster a culture of trust and accountability. Create actionable plans based on customer feedback and inputs. Less discussing what should be done and more action!

    Pros

They had solid training and competitive products. They could provide a variety of access methods to suite clients needs.

    Cons

They were an inside telephone sale oriented company. Unfortunately, the long term support and resources were not there for the Field team.

    Advice to Management

I don't have any at this time. Just wished they wanted an outside sales team when I was there.

    Pros

Nothing positive to say about the Seattle location.

    Cons

The worst HR EVER!! So unprofessional and has a hand in every part of the office operations but fail to complete HR work. Never response to emails. 90% of the employees have nothing nice to say about our HR. People have actually left the company because of HR. HR has a bad rep at our location as well as our offices in California. I invite anyone to interview any employee of MegaPath about our Seattle HR

    Advice to Management

Management continues to go unsupported by executive level

    Pros

Great coworkers and front office leadership team, Positive work environment, great place to start a tech support caterer, many roles creates a fantastic resume and broadens your skillet

    Cons

Megapath pays severely undermarket, because of this they constantly lose employees and have to recruit new reps frequently. A side effect of this is poor customer service due to lack of tenure, leading to high customer churn, more escalations and more employee Churn

    Advice to Management

If you want to be a successful service provider your number one goal should be customer service. In order to provide high quality customer service your customer facing team needs to be knowledgeable and friendly. In order for your team to become knowledgeable they need to have tenure at the company. In order to retain employees you need to make it clear that you value them. No one will feel valued if they don't get payed at even close to market value.
