I worked at Meineke full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Family owned franchise with good values and customer service. It was a great starting place to work. I value the continued positive relationship with the owners.

    Cons

Growth potential limited due to the family nature of the franchise. No health or retirement benefits offered. A great starting job only.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People thrive under opportunities for growth and advancement.

    Pros

The company does actually endorse quite a growing field of both management skills and sales skills. The average manager can earn a healthy living and good job experience. There is also the added benefit of getting half off any repairs done within the company, and the techs are very experienced.

    Cons

The position is so surrounded by sales , that the perspective they endorse about customer care is lost. The position itself gets lost in the hunt for sales opportunities, a persons only worth within an organization is based on numbers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your customers , with more attention to satisfaction. Also the lobby could use a bit of spark, people tend to become quite unhappy in those rooms.

I have been working at Meineke full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My franchise is a larger one but is still a small business
    Good Pay
Flexible as possible for a management position
Allows you to be honest with customers about the needed vehicle repairs and services, no quotas

    Cons

    Lack of benefits
    Long Hours
    Lack of decision making abilities
Unable to fire employees without upper management intervention.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To keep good talent you need to provide benefits, and allow managers to run the personnel side of the business

    Pros

They have been in business for many years.

    Cons

Watch your pay. it changes with out notice. You go to work thinking you make this amount, by noon they drop it with out notice

I have been working at Meineke full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Closed Sunday, descent salary, monthly bonus opportunity, spiff programs, Off Sundays. Open early close early. ASE certified mechanics working at most locations.

    Cons

60 HOUR WKS, bonuses "missing", Favoritism in higher ups, very little advancement opportunity in this area. Family owned and operated means, that people who are IN the family get the best operations; best stores, best bonuses, etc. The best mechanics are put in the favored stores, and the ones that could use a great mechanic get a lube tech and a 2 year apprentice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take your own advice, don't be so greedy. If someone is making you $1,000,000 in GP, perhaps going above and beyond would be in order. Wouldn't you say?

I have been working at Meineke full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Best and only thing was the hours for the aftermarket automotive industry..

    Cons

This is a franchise, which means your at the whim of the owner. No real professional Management team or corporation to help in decision making. Meineke has old, tired equipment and it's Tech are the leftovers no one else wants. The pay is OK. Since its a franchise, the health benefits are ridicoulously high and not affordable. No career opportunities at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take advice, sell before Mieneke goes under.

    I worked at Meineke full-time

    Pros

Discount services on cars, easy access to knowledgeable people and data bases.

    Cons

Less than average wages, weird hours, no benefits. The owners who owned the location where I worked were a bunch of idiots who didn't know what they were doing. Meineke Corporate will give franchises to anyone willing to write a check.

No Pro, I think they are starving for money.

    Cons

They don't respect integrity, and Customer loyality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop over charging customers for car parts and labor. It's not being loyal to customers.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

as a mechanic, I have to purchase tools to make my job faster and better. Buying tools is a never ending process. Buying company equipment should be the same.
