The good thing about this job was the 20% employee discount- Awesome!

    Cons

At my store, we had poor management. No lunch breaks, and no promotion.

    Pros

    Quick Advancement opportunities.
    Flexible hours.
Good way to get into management.

    Cons

Retail hours, holidays and weekends are required.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make management stay till six during opening shifts. Might as well stay all day since its just three hours later till closing.

I have been working at Melrose

    Pros

Bonuses. You bonus every quarter if you meet sales.
Overtime. It's only really available if you're a management member apart of short staffed management team.

    Cons

Pay. It's extremely difficult to keep a full management staff when. The pay is so low.
On a short handed management staff, you have to cover those hours, working over 50 hours a week sometimes. But again, the pay is not worth it.

I worked at Melrose part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Discount on clothes
    Quick Promotion
    Flexible schedule
Gives you experience with customer service in a fast-paced environment.

    Cons

Expected you to do a lot: cashier, floor, cleaning, etc.
In addition, I felt like I was snooping around and profiling customers to avoid shoplifting. I hated the fact that there were no metal detectors to do this. It was embarrassing once a customer felt like she was being profiled.
Also, if you asked for a specific day off, they would cut your hours the week after. Not cool.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get metal detectors.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
