    Pros

People. The culture at Meltwater is unique. Silicon Valley veterans who have advised and are currently working at Meltwater will tell you that there is no other place like it. You are pushed hard, have fun, and feel apart of something special.

    Cons

    Sales isn't for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the fast paced career advancement and new focus on branding and marketing.

    Pros

Spent 3 months @ Meltwater. October-December, would have stayed longer but was on a different life path.
Great training. Super friendly people. Managers are skilled and knowledgeable. Seemed like great upward mobility if you are willing to put in the extra effort. And the culture is very unique.

    Cons

Only critique is work life balance (depends on the individual)

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great training program.

    Pros

The office and some of the people you work with are amazing. I learned a lot from working in the industry (not through my role) and met some lifelong friends.

    Cons

If you work in Sales, you are considered royalty. Mangers are promoted carelessly and have little to no experience. There are perks, special trips and dinners for those in sales but nothing for everyone else. Your company would not be where it is today without the other people. Some departments are thrown in the corner away from the rest of the company. My manager frowned upon us socializing with other departments and did not allow us to grow within our position.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be growth opportunities and perks for those that are not in sales. I would have loved to stay with Meltwater, but a person can only survive on a low salary meaningless job for so long.

    Pros

    Location, location, location!

The new branding is quite innovative and interesting and the office space is quite nice.

    Cons

This is truly a sales driven organization. If you aren't in sales, don't expect any attention to paid to you or any of the work that you complete. Many initiatives are led by folks in the sales organization who may not have had previous experience working in a similar capacity for larger organizations. Thought process is immature and there is no real collaboration as the CEO will always have the final say in any decision. In addition, folks in the sales org have been promoted to positions within Marketing, Finance, Product and the like and are not necessarily qualified.

There are limited to no opportunities for growth if you are not in sales. The sales team seems to have multiple middle-managers, whereas those who support sales - internal operations, are required to maintain the same volume and quality of work with the same number of headcount as the sales org grows. So as the work increases, the likelihood you will be able to progress decreases.

Extreme, extreme favoritism towards those who are in sales. There are programs intended to reward those who are high performers, however, most employees are not privy to the actual goals one must complete to be nominated.

No transparency as to who sits on the board of directors - doubtful there will be an exit (IPO) in the future for this company. If they could have it their way, most likely they will remain a private company until the end of days.

    Advice to Management

There are no words that could be used to convince management to change their ways, as they seem to be quite set for the last few years.

    Pros

I received a competitive offer from Linkedin, got to move to a city of my dreams, and had to leave what is undoubtedly the best job I have had since graduating college (even Linkedin isn't as much fun).

Keep in mind this job will challenge you, but all the while you have a wonderful supportive team of mentors around you to help you succeed. And if you are in it for the long haul, their career path is much faster than other large software companies (I was promoted after 8 months).

Extremely competitive salary and a lot of fun - just wish they had an office in Mountain View!

    Cons

Honestly the challenge is being in your mid-20's having to pitch C level executives. I enjoy this though, especially because you are able to learn each client experience you have.

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees more! A more competitive salary would have definitely kept me here longer.

    Pros

Company culture here is strong, the company is defined by three core values which can be seen in any of Meltwater's 50 offices around the globe. Fun, a winning attitude and respect. The company offers a great deal of international career opportunities, offering strong employees the ability to move domestically or internationally. The company also offers a rigorous sales training program, getting new recruits experience they'd take years to gain elsewhere.

    Cons

The career track within Meltwater is very management / sales focused, if your interests lie outside of business development and management, perhaps this isn't the fit for you.

    Advice to Management

The company is really run splendidly, compensation is incredibly generous, culture is a great deal of fun and you will really learn a great deal about the business world in a short period of time.

    Pros

*work with incredibly talented, fun, and intelligent people
*great base salary and rewarding commission/bonus structure
*tons of opportunity for quick growth into management
*international with flexibility if interested in moving abroad
*most fun company I have ever worked for!!!!!
*the company offers the best product in its space and is highly respected

    Cons

*blurred line for working overtime, which isn't that important as you are here for the commission/bonus, but can be frustrating and come off poorly to employees
*more flexibility and understanding of personal time (doctor's appointments, leaving early if traveling on a weekend)
*management is a little overly eager to go public and you feel pressure from the top because of this, in addition when the company does go public the culture/fun will probably decreases significantly
    * don't work here if you aren't interested in making your work life your social life, you work with great people and it almost feels like a fraternity with how many office activities, parties, work outs you have together (but I love it!)

    Advice to Management

*management should take a more realistic perspective on growth (too fast, too soon in many cases)
    * management needs to be more aware of work/life balance
*be more transparent in charging hours worked

    Pros

    - Culture and people. Like-minded people in open, collaborative office spaces.
    - The product. You are working with a best in class solution, you aren't selling snake oil.
    - Personal and professional growth. The ability to transition in to management in the first year of your career.
    - Ongoing training. You continue to learn and do more training and further education throughout your career.
    - Salary. If you work hard and do well, you are compensated extremely generously.

    Cons

    - Not a huge issue for me, but the day-to-day work can be tough on some people. The more you put in, the more you get out of it, and those who go above and beyond the bare minimum always succeed more than their peers who do not. If you're a strong person and a hard worker, you'll be fine.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in the careers of young people, and continue the improvements made in recent years in terms of communication, processes and company strategy.
