I have been working at Memorial Healthcare System - South Florida full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Manager would like to do well and in the old days they did.

    Cons

The company is too bent on having too many VPs and leaders. They don't pay attention to anyone under them. HR is really in charge.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your HR group and stop hiring VPs of everything.

I have been working at Memorial Healthcare System - South Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard-working nurses (coworkers) who love taking care of the babies. No other pros. The NICU is tarnishing the good name of Memorial Healthcare System.

    Cons

Mandatory on-call/overtime, pay could be much better, insurance benefits limit you to Memorial Hospitals and doctors only, management pretends to care about nurses but really don't, person who does scheduling for night shift is a control freak & power hungry: always changing the days you schedule yourself for, which completely defeats the purpose of "self scheduling", recent changes in the NICU are horrible and displeasing to most of the staff and it is segregating the unit. Lots of nurses are currently looking for employment elsewhere, including me

    Advice to Management

Really listen to our complaints: DO NOT separate the NICU into East & West side (Level II and Level III). We feel really divided. You are about to lose a lot of staff. Also, let someone else do the schedule for night shift. The person currently responsible for it is very miserable and loves changing days and make things complicated for you. She also enjoys denying vacation requests unless you are her friend. I came here for a better experience since I heard great things about Memorial, now I'm looking for a new job

    Pros

Benefits are good and clean working environment.

    Cons

Do not go to Corporate Compliance on your concerns as there are consequences. Management is untouchable. If they want you out you will be set up to fail.

    Advice to Management

Do not treat your Employees wrong. There's a saying "What goes around, comes around".

    So so

    Pros

My employees , the benefits aren't so bad, could be better, experience from high influx of critical patients (but understaffed always)

    Cons

Low pay, low pay, low pay! Overworked and underpaid, work demand sky high, on call mandatory. For a trauma level one hospital you would think they would pay nurses more for the amount of work load that is given. New grads are being paid more at other hospitals for just starting out. Embarrassing. Parking is a joke. (In the OR) No control what's so ever over your schedule, they write your schedule and you have to accept it, and they post it on the last day of the previous schedule so that allows you little to know time to schedule appointments outside of work, and if you manage to schedule far in advance a vacation you will get denied it you aren't one of their favorites. And If you aren't one of their favs your schedule is constantly changing month to month so you never know what days you have off! It makes it very difficult to sign up for call when you have no idea when your working. You give them a hand and they take an arm and a leg, and then your other arm and leg and expect you to jump rope and juggle.

    Advice to Management

Listen, respect all of your employees, stop favoritism.
